Brief Description: Also known as the Rose of Jerico, it is an Arabian-Saharan species that commonly grows in depressions and at regs. It is an annual which in the past was used by local peoples to predict when the rains would return. The example pictured is desiccated and uprooted. When alive, however, it commonly folds its branches like the one pictured above when the rains are far from returning. Green branches and leaves are used in treating asthma and colitis.
