Your Eminence/Excellency, At the direction of His Eminence Cardinal Dolan, President, I take this opportunity to convey to you the attached letter of His Excellency, Most Reverend Lorenzo Baldisseri, General Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, concerning the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops scheduled to take place in October 2014 on the them, The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization. In his correspondence, Archbishop Baldisseri requests the observations of the members of the Conference regarding the attached preparatory documents and questionnaire that will provide a basis for the preparation of the Lineamenta for the extraordinary synod. I ask your kindness in providing us with any responses to this request no later than December 31, 2013. This will allow for a suitable time period to collate the information in order to meet the deadline provided by Archbishop Baldisseri.
