Goodwood Festival of Speed Silver Jubilee

Not deterred by the World Cup final or the Wimbledon finals or even the Tour de France, massive crowds turned up for the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s Silver Jubilee and sweltered under a blazing sun for a weekend of motoring mayhem and madness. The early genteel days of Goodwood’s garden party atmosphere when a few vintage cars belonging to the then Lord March’s chums rumbled up the hill are long gone. It’s now loud, brash, with screeching tyres, engines bouncing off rev limiters and cars bouncing off the straw bales as drivers race on the limit for the kudos of setting the fastest time.
