One motivator for a lot of kitchen gardeners is the opportunity to grow healthy food for a frugal outlay. Local food is fresh food – and it doesn’t get any more local than what you’ve grown in your back garden or allotment!

How much you spend on getting to harvest depends on the time and resources available to you. Arguably the more time you have, the greater the chances to be resourceful and cut costs. One area that’s an easy win is seed saving – and the benefits go far beyond the financial.
