PUB TALK
It was Christmas morning, so fate decreed that PUB was back in AJS ‘mediaeval’ Mary’s stable in the Welsh Marches, working on the Rex-Acme again as in 2017 (RC readers, especially those outside the UK, can have fun trying to find an exact definition of ‘the Welsh Marches’, which eludes the English and the Welsh themselves). It happened like this.
B44 Clive had re-worked the Rex-Acme tank by removing the latest round of sealant and re-lining it again using proprietary ‘ethanol proof’sealant, then repairing the paintwork and transfers. It was done over a period of weeks to permit drying between the various stages (as per the kit instructions). Then petrol was put in, and left for some time as a check. It seemed OK for a while, but then paint bubbles reappeared underneath.
RC readers seem happy with these liners, but Clive and PUB no longer have faith. The pin holes, if so they are, were scraped and treated externally with an ethanol-proof (?) epoxy sold for the purpose. So far these have been only on the tank bottom, where touching up need not be so perfect. Hopefully that will be final
