Southern Railway flagship heads fleet into Stoneleigh

LOCOMOTIVES built at the Southern Railway’s major works of Eastleigh and Brighton will be at the heart of Great Central’s sale on March 2, when nameplates Canadian Pacific, Bideford and Sherborne will be going under Mike Soden’s hammer.

The first is from No. 35005, a member of the SR’s flagship Merchant Navy class. It was built at Eastleigh in December 1941 as No. 21C5 and remained in service until October 1965 to, which is sectioned at the NRM, is included.
