MATERIALS
• 35cm ( 3/8yd) cream tone-on-tone print fabric (appliqué background)
• Scraps in assorted colours (appliqué and block frames)
• 30cm ( 3/8yd) yellow mottled print fabric (sashings and Border 1)
• 90cm (1yd) brown print fabric (Border 2 and binding)
• 1.8m (2yd) backing fabric
• Batting at least 125cm (49in) square
• Fusible web
• Stranded embroidery floss to match or coordinate with the appliqué fabrics
• Embroidery needle (hand appliqué)
• Assorted novelty buttons (appliqué embellishments)
• Clear monofilament thread and machine quilting threads to match the cream and brown print fabrics (machine quilting)
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Sewing machine with 1/4in, free-motion and walking feet
• General sewing supplies
Finished size: 88 x 75.5cm (34 3/4 x 29 3/4in)
Note: Read all the instructions before starting the project. It is recommended that fabrics be 100% cotton, pre-washed and well ironed. Requirements are based on fabric 107cm (42in) wide. Instructions are provided for fusible-web appliqué blanket stitched by hand. However, the quilt lends itself to a variety of other appliqué methods – adapt the instructions to suit your preferred approach. Seam allowances of 1/4in are used throughout for the patchwork.
