Note: Refer to the Fabric Key for the specific fabrics used in this project. Seam allowances of 1/4in are used throughout for the piecing. Instructions are given for working from the printed Pattern Sheet in the magazines, but you can download the digital patterns from www.homespun.net. au and print them out instead.

PREPARATION

1 This instalment of our Block of the Month provides instructions for appliquéing Hex-a-Daisy, Daisy and Hexagon Strip blocks on the Border 4 background strips.

2 If you’re not using pre-cut papers, trace the 3/4in hexagon and the daisy petal (curved Dresden Plate) shapes from the Pattern Sheet on to template plastic using a permanent-marking pen. Cut them out just inside the traced lines. Use them to trace 424 hexagons and 148 daisy petals on stiff paper and cut them out on the lines.

3 Trace the circle from the Pattern Sheet onto paper. Cut it out roughly and glue it to light cardboard, then cut it out accurately and smoothly on the traced line.
