GIVEN THAT IT DATES BACK TO THE 17th century, you might expect this Cheshire residence to be festooned with old roses. Formal elements such as the Long Border, pleached lime screens and yew and boxwood topiary certainly borrow from the past, but the crisp contemporary design, naturalistic planting style and restricted palette creates a restful ambience.

Owners Ken Roscoe and partner David Bradley have worked in design and architecture for over 30 years and travel extensively, gathering inspiration from around the world.
