FROM FALLOW TO FANTASTIC

It was one of the most initially rewarding and ultimately frustrating experiences I’ve endured. Armed with a lawn mower, garden tiller and a bag of seeds, I’d decided to transform a half-acre meadow into a thriving food plot. With that one act, I was going to turn the “meh” 40-acre property I hunted into a whitetail utopia!

For at least a full week after putting seeds in the dirt, I went to bed each night with that food plot dominating my thoughts. Yes, part of that was from the phantom vibrations I felt in my arms from shoving that tiller around for a four-day stretch, doing my best to churn the mowed grass into the dirt. The sensation of my arms still vibrating made it impossible not to think about, but the excitement kept me dreaming of my plot, well after the phantom vibrations finally stopped.

The frustrations set in upon the realization that my new clover plot was really still the same old meadow, choked with weeds, grasses and now with just a pitifully few more clover leaves hidden beneath.
