1967 when his father bought a 1959 Beetle from an insurance auction. It was a challenging project car that had front-end damage due to an accident; so, his dad purchased fenders, a hood, and a bumper as well. Gary repaired the Bug himself with his father’s support, and got it back on the road. He has since fallen in love with Volkswagens, and has never stopped driving them for over a half-century.
