WOMEN’S March

This is a milestone year for women’s empowerment, with 2020 marking the 100th anniversary of women receiving the right to vote. March is Women’s History Month, and cultural organizations throughout Southwest Florida are honoring women’s achievements in many unique ways. At the Center for Visual Arts Bonita Springs, a solo exhibition by Sanibel Island artist Myra Roberts provides social commentary on women’s rights, power, and influence. Her “Spokeswoman” series includes 40 original portraits of remarkable women. For this exhibit, on display March 6-26, Roberts curated a selection from this series featuring Audrey Hepburn, Anne Frank, Frida Kahlo, and Anne Morrow Lindbergh, along with other recent works.
