Back on the beat

This summer has been an odd one with regard to me fulfilling my duties of trying to manage the corvid population on the estate. I was under the impression that crow, pigeon and other pest species would always need controlling and were pretty safe from the antis’ attacks. Shooting pigeons and many other agricultural pests is part of protecting crops but a lot of us lost the power to do so once the old general licences were taken off the table in April, albeit temporarily.

I did not apply for a personal licence during this period and waited for Natural England
