    late 2001, a young Adam Smith was on the adventure of a lifetime, sailing in South America, when Kiwi yachtsman Sir Peter Blake was attacked and murdered by pirates. Not far from the Amazon, Smith and his friends immediately went to help the crew, who were shooting a documentary on illegal logging.
