NATURE my muse
At the age of 53 I am now more than ever amazed at creation. It’s as if the whispers of nature loosen things up in me.
One of my favourite places is the promenade in Sea Point, where I stare for hours at the waves, feel the misty spray on my face, sample the magical wonders of marine life, see eternity roll out in front of me, often in exuberant clusters of ocean foam, and where I breathe in the wild smell of the kelp.
When the seabirds swoop noisily down for a fish in the sea and then soar high again, I sometimes think of the words of the French conservationist, filmmaker and writer Jacques Cousteau: ‘The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.’ So true, because in these moments of quiet wonder,
