Our automatic Mk1 Eunos is finally being converted to manual and although this operation means major surgery, the long-term prognosis for our sporting Mazda looks good.

It has been one of those jobs that has been on and off for quite a while, but a decision was finally made and our Mk1 Eunos is now on the ramp at marque specialist MX-5 City having the automatic gearbox replaced with a five-speed manual. The final 50 mile drive up to MX-5 City’s new premises in West Yorkshire was in some ways a bit of a sad one, as the next time I drive our Eunos it will have a clutch pedal and gear lever to mess around with. However, with the automatic gearbox now playing up, even I can see the logic to the conversion, and it will definitely make it more fun to drive.
