Since the 1990s, Vienna in Austria has paid particular attention to gender equality thorugh their urban and architectural policies. Over the course of numerous research projects and surveys, the city has studied the lives of women and attracted public interest through seminars and exhibitions. As the social debate on women’s daily lives and safety became ever more prominent, ‘Frauenburo’ had been established in 1992 as an administrative organisation to practice gender equality. Their activities have continued over this time on various scales, from parks, playgrounds, apartments to urban planning.
