Metal As Anything

If there’s one thing former builder Tom Miller has discovered in recent years it’s this – you’re never too old to learn a new hobby. Tom, now a sought-after blacksmith in the Bathurst region, discovered his talent when his partner wanted him to build a metal stool similar to one she had seen at their local village pub. Now he makes a full time living blacksmithing in the historic village of Newbridge, bringing the age-old art back to his beautiful Central Tablelands community. We caught up with Tom to discover what it’s like being a blacksmith in the 21st century.

BML You had a fairly unconventional upbringing, with your mum a pioneer in the fishing industry?
