YOUTH COUNCIL
Blue Mountains Council is looking for new members for the Youth Council.
People need to be aged between 12 and 19 years and have a passion for our community and the environment.
The Blue Mountains Youth Council is a committee of 20 members who meet monthly to identify and discuss issues important to them and plan and run events. Successful applicants remain members for two years when they can reapply if they wish.
Former Blue Mountains Youth Councillor, Paul Mukhin, said: “I joined the Blue Mountains Youth Council in early 2015. We’ve been able to have an input into Council planning that is relevant to young people, and projects that improve the lives of young people in our region.”
ADULT CHANGE FACILITY
Blue Mountains City Council officially opened its adult change facility at Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub this month.
It is the second adult change facility provided by Council. The first facility – installed at Echo Point in 2016 – has proven to be popular with both tourists and residents living with a disability, as well as their carers.
The new change facility includes a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench and a tracking hoist system that is best practice in design. The facility enables people with disabilities to be transitioned from the
