In 1918, both The Saturday Evening Post and The Country Gentleman recognized the Silver Anniversary of the American automobile industry. Car dealers of the day ran promotions offering to trade new cars for pioneer automobiles. The cars that were turned in illustrated that people were already starting to collect automobiles and view them as historic artifacts.
