This feel-good movie by Peter Cattaneo presses all the usual buttons: a (largely) predictable story arc, a (largely) stereotypical if diverse cast of characters, the shameless use of emotional triggers. And yet… The deeply unsexy inspiration is the formation of the first British military wives choir, as a Sharon Horgan), who’s in a losing battle with her rebellious teenage daughter. Go with a girlfriend, or your mother, and feel free to blub on their shoulder.
