YARRA VALLEY, SOUTHERN VICTORIA AND TASMANIA

DISCOVERING THE LITTLE GEMS

WHILE the Yarra Valley is home to several glitzy cellar doors like Oakridge, De Bortoli, Yering Station and TarraWarra, there are also some boutique discoveries to be made.

At Seville's Payne's Rise the cellar door is in the original 1860s homestead and you can sample wine under shady elms and oaks. Sit under the trees at Five Oaks Vineyard, then duck around the bend to Elmswood Estate, where antipasti is on hand to complement the wine. Just down the road is pretty Morgan Vineyards, where you can taste estate cider as well as handmade wine. Killara Estate is a relaxed family-friendly stop for wine, food and hill views, while Soumah of Yarra Valley features northern Italian-style wines and a trattoria.
