Bordeaux 2019: Anson first-look verdict

April’s en primeur may have been postponed, but Decanter Bordeaux correspondent Jane Anson has tasted 160 barrel samples of wine via a drop-off system in her garage, to provide her own insight into the 2019 vintage.

Overall, 2019 was a hot vintage with all the potential successes and pitfalls that this style of year brings with it – rich fruit, concentration, high alcohols and plenty of tannins.
