Eye-Popping Wyoming Red Seal Discoveries
Any Wyoming Series of 1902 red seal discovery is big news. A number 1 Wyoming red seal discovery is huge. Two of them together is simply over the top!
Heritage Auctions will offer a pair of number 1 Cheyenne red seals in their September Long Beach sale. I doubt anything else in the sale will even come close to generating seriously sweaty palms as these two lots will.
The statistics for Wyoming red seals are these. There is now a total of 20 reported, one $5, 13 $10s and 6 $20s spread thinly over 13 different banks. A total of 99,336 1902 red seals were issued in the state giving us a current survival rate of one per 4,966 issued. The survival rate for territorial Series of 1882 brown backs is virtually identical.
In all the decades of collecting Wyoming notes, I only got to own three of them. None were anywhere near as nice as these two. As for Wyoming number 1 red seals,
