In the 1970s, macadamia nuts were still largely unknown in South Africa. However, some farmers could already see the crop’s potential.
There is increasing interest in the crop, says Dr PJ du P Vermeulen of Rusticana, Brondal near Nelspruit. Macadamias are indigenous to Australia and were first brought to the Lowveld by the Citrus and Subtropical Fruit
