In The Moment

“I’m happier & healthier when I’m immersed in nature”

When Julia Bradbury was seven years old, she was a fan of adventure stories. But while most kids her age were content to curl up at home with a copy of The Famous Five, Julia was striding out into the wild to live the adventure first hand.

Her father, a keen walker, would regularly take her rambling in the rolling hills of the Peak District, near their Sheffield home, and instead of reading her books he’d invent fantastical tales of his own based on the places they visited, such as the caves under craggy rock faces which became hiding places for pirates’ loot.

These magical experiences left a lasting impression on her. More than 40 years on, Julia – who is now a parent and a whole host of her own walking-themed travelogues for the BBC and ITV.
