Meet David Allen Sibley
David Allen Sibley (RIGHT) has loved birds since he was a young boy. He is an illustrator and an author of numerous books about birds. The Sibley Guide to Birds is considered one of the best field guides for North America. His new book, What It’s Like to Be a Bird, explores every part of a bird’s life. Sibley talked with COBBLESTONE about his work.
When did you get interested in the natural world?
I’ve been interested in nature for as long as I can remember. I always liked drawing—birds were my favorite subject to draw. My father is an ornithologist, so he studies birds. That meant that there were bird books on the shelves, and when people came over, they talked about birds. Birds were a part of our family life. I would pull one
