WHITE-EARED KOB

Where? The Sudd, South Sudan/Ethiopia

How many? 800,000

Distance covered? 1500km

When? December-May: the kob move east from the floodplains of the Sudd, Bandingilo National Park, through Boma National Park (both in South Sudan), and into the western swamps of Gambella National Park in Ethiopia.; June-November: the migration goes into reverse as the herds head west again.

What’s occurring? The white-eared kob are on the move year-round — a slow journey driven by the constant search for new pastures.
