2021’s BEST NEW PLANTS
Like a lot of people, you may be glad to put 2020 in the rearview mirror and get a fresh start. There’s no better way to do that than with a new year and a batch of fresh plants introductions!
MEET SOME NEW PLANTS Color seems to be the name of the game this year with lots of gorgeous flowers in a range of rich hues and outstanding foliage that’s both vibrant and textural. From unusually double wax begonias to petunias with showy color-splashed petals and a bugleweed with ruffly gold foliage, there’s something for gardeners in sun and shade alike.
Trees and shrubs are more than just background plants these days. Take a look at the group on page 32—they’ll keep your garden showy from spring to frost and don’t demand a lot of extra work on your part. And if edibles are more your style, check out a new crop of disease-resistant veggies that are easy-care and taste great.
Brand-new plants can be a bit of a challenge to find at the garden center the first year, so make sure to shop early. I’ve listed mail-order sources where they’re available. Now let’s take a look at some great new plants for 2021!
