The Beginning of the End

Those of us old enough to have been interested in such things in 1974 might just recall the fact that When Will I See You Again, sung by the Three Degrees, reached number one in the UK Singles Chart that year.

The relevance of this astounding piece of pop trivia lies in the lyrics, part of which poses the question “is it my beginning or is it the end?” It is a question that might equally apply to the month of January when it comes to pheasant shooting and the close of the season on 1 February.
