A CHANCE ENCOUNTER

Remember when we could go to truck shows? Well, a highlight of the calendar every year was the Retro Truck Show, a must-attend event in Gaydon every September and always in my diary.

For the 2019 event, off I trotted one fine Sunday morning. As I skirted round Coventry on the A47 I saw a truck in front of me on a K-plate. It wasn’t a personalised plate so I figured it was a genuine ‘oldie at work’ and sure enough, as I got closer I could see the classic lines of a Scania 3 series.

As I overtook, it revealed itself to be a superb looking – and sounding – R113M.360. But you can’t take a photo while driving down a dual carriageway, and nor could I make a note of
