Feel the funk

This wonderful Westfalia is the handiwork of Essex-based petrol head and all round good guy, Norman Gregory. Norm has been VW-mad since ’95 when he picked up his first VW project, a stock Beetle, which he restored, modified and, of course, lowered. That was a 1500 model and the first of a string of Beetles, before Norm eventually found himself in the market for a Camper.

This ’78 2.0 US-spec Westy is actually a Berlin Deluxe (SO76/1) model, which was originally imported from the States to the UK by fellow VW hounds, Paul Boosey and ‘Honest Jon’. Paul and Jon were looking to flip this particular vehicle and, as Norm put it, “I was in the right place, at the right
