About this audiobook

From the author of the instant New York Times bestseller Survivors, comes its follow-up: another lightening-paced thriller about survival in America after an apocalyptic socioeconomic crash.

The world as we know it is gone.

It's the near future, and thanks to a perfect storm of reckless banking practices, hyperinflation, a stock market gone mad, and the negligence of our elected officials, the entire social, political, and economic infrastructure of America has collapsed. Chaos reigns in the streets, medical treatment is no longer available, and a silent coup has placed a dangerous group of men at the helm of a false government. America's fate is in the hands of those few individuals who have the survival skills, the faith, and the forethought to return this country to the state its founding fathers intended.

I’m glad authors are starting to write from a Christian perspective. There are few books of this sort with Christian characters. Loved it.

Loved it, really shows why we need to value our freedom.

    My take-away
.. If you are NOT a God fearing Christian you will not survive the fall of civilization. You might be the greatest prepper from 'sea-to-shining-sea', but you're doomed without Jesus Christ.

OK, whatever. Find your Jam and then milk that cow until she falls over. And, laugh all the way to the bank, or your gold broker.

FYI. I am a Christian and well armed. But, I am not Chicken Little.

It was filled with wonderful quotes from many people from throughout history talking about the greed of our country. It's fun to feel the smile on my face as I agreed with every word!!

Overall a good book a out survival if the world ends. The author seems to have a real love for the Christian religion and a hate for tattoos. Once I got past the Bible thumping parts I enjoyed the books.

Not bad for a not so subtly racist extreme right wing survivalist take on societal collapse that ends up celebrating crusaders and repopulating Africa with Americans! The further you get into this the more unreal it gets. But at least it doesn't create an incredibly psychopathic antagonist for the hero to attack. Rather just a nasty criminal Mexican whom surprisingly is only a bit of a subplot. Very heavy on Christian stuff, watch out for those thieving UN deployed Dutch and German Iittle kid killers and don't worry despite the Christian lionizing you won't be deprived of the opportunity to worship constantly at the altar of guns guns guns guns guns...!

I was a little worried when I started reading this book as in the Dramatis Personae at the beginning, the author lists most of the female characters as "wife of". Not a great start. Then I read some of the reviews and I knew that there was a definite religious slant to it which is definitely not my cup of tea! But I read it anyways and I did manage to finish it. The novel's female characters turned out to be on the same level of ok as the male ones (none of the characters really had depth to them - I felt that they were too two dimensional). Generally I found this novel to be too convoluted with technicalities, particularly about firearms (of which I know nothing about). I felt it really didn't have much of a plot and was a bit too "God Bless America" for me by the end.

Decent book. Not as good as his others. The book would be much better if he didn't write as if the only people who would survive TEOTWAWKI would be Christians.

I previously read Rawles' Patriots and Survivors books so when I saw Founders that it was going to be more of the same. However, it is connected somehow to his other two books, but I don't know if this is a sequel, prequel, or just part of the same story. This third book continues part christianity, part apocalypse and part gun catalog. This is an odd book with a lot of copy/paste from the other two books. In the end, the nationalism wins out and all good people go home. It demonstrates, once again, that all politics is local and political power comes from the barrel of a gun...I was disappointed by Founders.

More a diary of events than a continuous story with weapons selection and many religious contexts provided.

I previously read Rawles' Patriots and Survivors books so when I saw Founders was out I was interested in reading it.Patriots was a great book I'd recommend, Survivors took that formula ran with it but ruined it to a degree with the insertion of numerous Christianity references. Continuing on that path, Founders is basically 80% Christianity propaganda / waffle and 20% decent book - and that's being generous.I get the authors a Christian, I get that he likes to write about characters that reflect his beliefs, but really, do we need the majority of most chapters spent on the characters talking to each other about how great Christianity is and how tops is it they have God in their lives?According to this book, reading between the lines, I can summarise the two main points:a) unless you're a Christian, you're going to die;b) if you're a Christian but you haven't hoarded guns and food, you're the wrong sort of Christian following the wrong path, and, you're going to die.If you're interested in apocalyptic fiction do yourself a favour and read Patriots, Earth Abides, Black Monday, Alas Babylon or Without Warning and not Founders.

James Wesley Rawles writes a story about a financial disaster that changes the world. The price of oil skyrocketed making it unaffordable. The U.S. dollar falters and electricity goes off the grid. This makes gangs and criminals able to get together to rob and plunder.Groups of people have prepared for the disaster and get together in various places to defend their freedom. Friends and family are very important and other significant things are a strong faith in a higher power, a belief in freedom, a supply of food and clothing and a desire to bring back law to where the founding fathers wanted. The plot is complicated but authentic and the characters colorful.
