This book does fairly well on the creep-factor, but it's not a very exciting story.

Standard Dean Koontz craziness. Hillary keeps seeing the man that terrrorized her but how is that possible since she knows he is dead or is he?

Crazy Guy tries to rape & murder a screen writer. She enlists the help of a cop & they go after him. There are twins. She kills one who attacks her again. They track down the other together.

Whispers is a crime mystery novel that involves adult characters that have experienced child abuse. I got an eerie feeling throughout most of the book maybe because the story seems realistic. It's a balanced book because it also involves some romance and friendship (which I think it brings beauty in the midst of darkness). I may be biased in saying this is a must read horror novel because I enjoy Dean Koontz writing a lot.

One of Koontz's darkest novels ever, almost everyone in the book has a dark and twisted past including the villian which i found to be very unique about a Koontz novel. Also the mystery really does a good job of keeping you guessing until the very end of the book. The book really plucks at your heart at certain points even creating a lot of sympathy for the villian, a very emotional, gripping novel. Not the best Koontz book ever, but definitly a classic favorate, one of his better novels to date.

I thought this book was okay. It's what I look for when I turn to Koontz, an easy read. Your eyes just casually go over the words and it's not stressful or requiring of much memory or thought. This one was about a woman named Hilary Thomas who was being stalked by a man named Frye who thought Hilary was the reincarnation of his mother. Not bad, not stellar.

Liked this alright. Not Koontz's best work, but still enjoyable to listen to.

The start is a little rocky but Koontz eventually finds his stride. This book gives a nice and unexpected twist to a pretty common plot device and ends with an unforgettable scene that is sure to give every reader the creeps.

It was a decent audio book, but it had too much sex and romance. It was like a scary Harlequin Romance book. Not the usual Koonz book.

very scary dean koontz, this book made it all too real that stalkers and phycopaths can be out there, and home may not be as safe as you think, one of his first , and best.

I have always loved his books, but some I’ve listened to over the last couple of years have been so lurid, I am fast-forwarding too frequently to enjoy. Some of it borders on soft porn. His writing simply doesn’t need that.

After not having read this book in 43 years, I forgot how and why this was always my FAVORITE Dean R. Koontz book!! When do we feel for the bad, horrible monster that torments our dreams? Hillary Thompson knew terror lived in Bruno Frye, but she still had to survive his viscious attacks and rape attempts. But after she murders him in cold blood; how is he still breaking into her house and her room at night? She thought that living the life of a successful and beautiful Hollywood screenwriter and director would be the ulitimate life....what it becomes is a Nightmare!!!

With this being one of Koontz's 1st and most horrifying novels of his career as we knew him to be, Dean R. Koontz. After LOVING his first 8 horror novels of this point in his career, these were the books that made me place him above King. This book is extremely suspensful, FULL of gruesome scenes of horror, abuse, graphic rape/sexual situations, but only as Koontz could write them.

Triggers: Fear of 1000's of roaches, rape, child abuse, graphic scenes of decapitations.

    I LOVED this novel!!!
    5 ?????all the way.

This was the worst book I've ever had the displeasure to try and get through I'm shocked that this is a Dean koontz book...the language and the sexual scenes made this more like a cheap murder mystery then a readable book.

I love Dean Koontz books. This one, though, was more of a love story than a thriller or mystery. I don't mind some sex in books but this was just too much. Most of the story centered around the romance of the leading characters, rather than focusing on the plot. The narration was very well done.
