The planets are interesting, and Magic School Bus helps present them to kids who might otherwise miss the excitement I felt in astronomy.

This is my first encounter with the series either in print or on screen.A delightful book for young children or anyone learning English for the first time, it captivates and educates at the same time. When the planetarium that the class is supposed to visit turns out to be closed, the bus transforms into a spaceship to take them through the solar system. The format consists of three elements that work well together. First, there is the main story filled with facts about the solar system. Second, a comic book style of commentary by the class and teacher. Third, mini essays written by the students providing additional facts about the solar system.I would recommend not just this book, but the entire series.

I have strong memories of reading this under my Ninja Turtles comforter on my bottom bunk with a reading light. It was one of the first times I had ever used a reading light, and the entire thing felt so adventurous and romantic to younger me. It's one of my fondest reading memories. My partner read this to me to help me fall asleep because I'm sick. I felt very safe and comforted and taken care of. This is now one of my fondest reading memories, too.

The magic school bus lost in the solar system by Joanna ColeStory is written in a differnet order but all the parts are there.Trip day in school and they are to visit the planetarium. Like all the different voices as I listen to this. One of the kids states their school is better, higher, etc than the ones the bus leaves from.Lots of information is given while on the bus. The planetrium is closed for the day but the bus turns into a rocket and they are on their way of another crazy trip. Then they find themselves floating-they are in space with spacesuits as the bus as turned into a vehicle that can travel on the planets. They visit the moon, sun then all the planets in order. So fun to learn about the solar system in this way-from a kids point of view. Love the question and answer section.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Ms. Frizzle plans to take the children in her fourth grade class to the planetarium, but when they get there, they find it closed for repairs. The children are disappointed, but their disappointment soon turns to excitement when the magic school bus takes them on a spectacular field trip through the solar system where they learn about each of the planets.Part of the Magic School Bus series, this charmingly-illustrated science-based book introduces young readers to the solar system. Written for young readers ages five through eight, this book is perfect for reading with an adult and is a delightful way to introduce young readers to the exploration of the solar system. Although based in fact, parents should be prepared to answer the child’s questions about such things as why scientists changed Pluto’s designation from planet to dwarf planet and how many more moons scientists have discovered orbiting Jupiter and Saturn. Since the science here is exactly what most parents learned in school, the book becomes a springboard for discussing how scientists are always discovering new things and how those new discoveries help us to develop a better understanding of the world around us.Highly recommended.

As with all of the Magic Schoolbus books, Mrs. Frizzle takes her class on an amazing adventure. This trip is to the solar system, where the children get experience space first hand. The book teaches children about the elements of the solar system including the planets, their dimensions, distance from the sun, and moons; gravity, asteroids and atmospheres.Reflection: I found this book to be a fun way to teach kids about an involved subject. Kids learn in-depth facts about the solar system through a series of colorfully illustrated pictures and captions.Extension Ideas:1. As a class construct a model of the solar system2. Have children choose a planet and do a report or presentation about that planet including details such as, the planet's size, composition, and distance from the sun. 3. Talk to children about astronauts and what they think it would be like to go to space.4. Use this as an opportunity to promote STEM careers. Invite professionals to come speak to your class about careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields.

Giving kids (students) a closer look at what is around them through the lenses of science. I compare “The Magic School Bus” books to be kind of like the “Bill Nye the Science Guy” show only in text form and for younger audiences. That is my personal connection, I don’t know if anyone would agree with me on that, but I grew up with both and it’s just a connection that makes a lot of sense to me. All in all, I would say that since this book is for grades 3-5, the author was looking for a fun way for the children to make connections with everyday life things to scientifically thinking and critical thinking.

This book is a really fun way to introduce younger students to information about the solar system. Also, there are other themes present. Using this story, students could be asked to discussion their views on how they relate to one another and behave in groups or in new settings. While providing factual information about astronomy, the book also tells a story about how the students deal with their own relationships with one another. The illustrations are fun and eye-catching. The organization of the writing even has its own unique manner of keeping the eye. The writing related directly to the story is presented in small chunks, which helps to not discourage the reader. There is dialogue in chat bubbles which may appeal to readers more interested in graphic literature. And there are factual blurbs explaining more of the scientific facts on drawings of pieces of lined binder paper. The book presents a lot of factual scientific information without the boredom of a text book.

Summary:what was suppose to be a normal field trip to the planetarium, ended up being a trip to outer space. when Mrs frizzle in her crazy dress them of the solar system. plains to take her children on a normal field trip to learn about the solar system, turns south when the museum is closed, Mrs frizzle has a back up plan and transforms her bus to a space ship and take her students outer space.Personal reaction:Classroom extension: 1. I would have my students point out one major detail of each of the planets found in the book.2.The entire class would work together to create our very own solar system. out of foam ball and paint and wire what ever we can find around the school.

The story begins when Ms. Frizzle decides to take her elementary classroom on a fieldtrip to the planetarium, only to find out that the museum is closed. Determined to not waste the day, Ms. Frizzle transforms the school bus into a spaceship and takes the classroom for a ride through the solar system. What an innovative way to teach children about the solar system without them realizing that they are being taught! The Magic School Bus series is an excellent tool for teaching multiple subjects to young children. Classroom extensions include having the students to list the different planets of the solar system. Another extension includes having the children to draw or color a diagram reflecting the planets in their proper place in the solar system.

Ms. Frizzle decides to take the kids in her class to have a field trip to the solar system, in their school bus. However, the bus gets lost and the kids take an adventure in the solar system. The trip is exciting and kids get to learn different planets by riding pass them. The illustrations are nice and colorful. It is good to show children different features of each planet and help them to recognize them. It is a good book to read with children and teach them some knowledge about the space. Recommended for children from grade 1-4.

A great review or introduction for the solar system!! Can read the story and ask the facts that are on the side. It is about Mrs. Frizzle's class was visiting the planetarium and sadly it was closed. They stopped at a red light and the bus took off into outer space. They were exploring the solar system and everything was going great until a asteroid hit the bus light. Then the students ended up alone and lost in the solar system. It is a fun way to explore all the different planets.

Genre: Science fiction because takes place in the real world, but is still exaggerated from reality. Though the solar system is accurate, the idea of taking a field trip to see it is not reality, making it science fiction.

Age appropriateness: intermediate Genre: Science FictionMedia: Pen and inkThis book is good example of science fiction because it has believable elements but then the author takes the plot a bit further. In this case the solar system and all its components are factual but the students’ bus turns into a space ship and flies into outer space. I think this book has educational value and it makes the solar system more real to the students.

The Magic School Bus books are always a good pick. I do think it is weird how they always think somewhat poorly of Ms. Frizzle. I think I would have re-thought that approach.

This book is about exploration of outer space for students and what they can learn and explore through outter space. It also as great illustrations and great information regarding facts about space. I liked this book because a lot of students may not understand how amazing space really is or what exactly is in space. With a book like this, students can learn about the world outside of ours. I would relate this to the classroom by letting the students build their own solar system out of boxes and other items they wanted to use. After they are finished, we would post them outside the classroom for everyone to see.

Mrs. Frizzle is at it again. Her class is supposed to go on a field trip to the planetarium, but yet again they take a different kind of field trip. Their bus turns into a spaceship and they are off to the tour the solar system. This is a great book that takes you on an amazing trip to see all of our planets. As a student i am always happy to read a magic school bus book. They are interesting, fun, and creative. This one is no different. The comedy in this book is great and i don't even notice that i am reading an informational book.As a teacher this is the perfect book to use with my students to get them interested in the solar system. This is the book that i would use to introduce the topic. An activity i could do with this book would be to take my students on a fiel trip to the science center and use this book as an achor and reason for going there.

Yet another fun field trip with Ms. Fizzle. A trip to the real Solar System is was cooler than the Planatarium!I loved this book because I love anything that has to do with the planets, they are a mystery to us. We can explore and see them in person, and that is what is so cool about them.We would use this book to learn the planets. We would also talk about how we don't consider Pluto as a planet anymore. We would also use this book to make our own model of the Solar System.
