Theodor Seuss Geisel – better known to his millions of fans as Dr. Seuss – was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. Another fun Dr. Seuss Beginner Book, this one all about the alphabet, providing kids with a fun way of learning their letters.Still revisiting my childhood while organizing my bookshelves.

Although my youngest enjoyed this thoroughly, I never was as attached to it as many of Seuss's other classics. There wasn't the moral lesson, I suppose, that appeals to me so deeply with many of his other stories. It is as entertaining as any other book teaching the ABC's though.

A rhyme scheme and fanciful creatures that only Dr. Seuss could have created make this book stand miles above any other alphabet primer.

An alphabet book with zany drawings and nonsensical verse provides an entertaining way for small children to learn the letters and their sounds. This book is fantastic for pre-k and kindergarten to learn the alphabet and words associated with it. I would use this book to teach fun ways to come up with words that use theses phonemes.

A basic ABC book with rhyming. This book is very Dr. Seuss and a good first book for children to be exposed to the world of Dr. Suess. This book could be used as a theme book, a read aloud, or a link to alphabet lessons. The basic use of this book is around Dr. Seuss's birthday. I see this book everywhere, when his birthday is around. It's a classic and will be around forever.

This is a really good and fun nook to read out loud. It has a good rhythm and some funny tongue twisting words and lines. It is awesome to help kids come up with words for each letter.

Great book for beginner readers. This is an alphabet book that begins ,"Big A liite a", and so on... I love how after each introduction of the letter, they give words that tie in the letter in which it represents in the alphabet!

I love any Dr. Seuss book, but especially this one! It is such a fun, upbeat way for children to learn their alphabet. The illustrations are strange but so creative and colorful. Like all of Dr. Seuss books this one rhymes, which makes it even more entertaining to introduce letters to children! It would be fun to have students pick a letter of the alphabet and list their favorite things that start with that letter and present it to their peers. I adore this book and will not only read it to my students in the future, but my children as well.

Dr. Seuss's ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book! is a great alphabet book for children. It is very colorful and fun, and it is filled with rhyming lines like most of Dr. Seuss's works. This would be a great book for children to read when they are beginning to learn how to read because they can focus on words that begin with certain letters. It is also a great book to help children who are learning their alphabet. It is a good choice for an alphabet book!

Yet another great alphabet book. This book is fun and very interactive. With each letter is says "BIG __, little __, what begins with __?" It gives the students a chance to say words that they think begin with each letter. The book shares some words that start with each letter and has pictures of those things as well. It is very helpful with letter learning in that it shows it both as a capital and lower case letter and lists many words that start with each letter while giving students the chance to guess words that start with each letter as well.

This ABC, Dr Seuss book is great for early readers, the book show cases both Upper & lower case letters, the illustrations go along with the letters and words, each letter has its own character. As the reader goes through each letter, a letter is added on. Sentences are shortt, simple and funny Children can read on their own as well as enjoy being read too. Can be used to teach or reinforce alliteration and ryhymes (beginning and ending sounds).

This book is about how to learn your alphabet, as well as words that begin with each letter. It also demonstrates where to use a capital or lower case letter. It is a very kid friendly, making it a fun book to learn from. I would use this book in a nursery school and kindergarten classroom.* Alphabet book, helps with spelling and letter recognition as well as capital versus lower case.

The text is well done and some of the pictures are quite funny - the baby in the barber shop, for example. Regardless, I find Dr. Seuss's animals to be mostly hideous, classic or no. Not so sure yet how our girls like the book though, maybe they will be of a different opinion.

"BIG Blittle bWhat begins with B?Barberbabybubbles and abumblebee."I love Dr. Seuss's ABC fun use of alliteration and rhymes. The book shows both upper- and lower-case and gives examples of several words that begin with the letter and shows illustrations of each word. Some examples even help teach counting and cause and effect like..."BIG Slittle sSilly Sammy Slicksipped six sodasand gotsick sick sick."Kids will love learning their ABC's with this book because they're having so much fun!

Rarely does one book solely satisfy teaching phonemic awareness to children. Dr. Seuss's book, Dr. Seuss's ABC, not only includes one of the elements suggested to teacher phonemic awareness, but has three! Alliteration, rhyme, and the alphabet, are creatively woven together to create a one of a kind book that will have children recognizing sounds in no time!

Much like Chris Van Allsburg's "The 'Z' was Zapped," this is a book that travels through the alphabet giving us words that start with every letter along the way. This is a great book for beginning readers. The characters in this book are very Seuss like - with the big eyes and elongated necks and disproportionate bodies. The characters are always full of life and energy which is there to make reading fun.

I just love this book, it is an absolute blast to read aloud. My preschool students always crack up with it, but it also gets them thinking. It shows the letter, puts some hilarious combination of words together, and shows a beautifully illustrated picture to accompany. It provides a fun jumping off point for kids - ask two or three kids to come up with their own words that start with A or J and combine them in a ridiculous way the same way the book does. And, for older kids with more art skills, they can then illustrate their new situation.

This is a book that was written to help teach children to read by placing emphasis on the letters of the alphabet. Not only does it focus on identifying certain letters, but it also focuses on using and identifying both uppercase letters and lowercase letters. It gets children to think by always asking the question "What begins with (letter)?"I think this is a very good book to read to children in Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. A good time to read it to them is when they are learning about the alphabet and applying it to certain words. In addition, I think it is a good book to read to students who are learning about words that rhyme.

This book is a great read for students who are learning the letters of the alphabet. Dr. Seuss goes through each letter giving several words that begin with it. It is a great way to get students thinking about other words that start with certain letters. Also, there is some repetition so students could read along with you. This would be a great book for kindergardeners and beginner readers.

If you've ever played (or watched your children play) the CD game version of this, then you know that it has a lot more to look at and read about than the book, however, the book is a classic. A wonderfully fun way to learn about the ABC's. Appropriate for all ages :-)

This is a great story in helping children learn their A B C. Just like any Dr. Seuss Book we read it hads rythem and ryhmn in it. Children will love to use this book in order to get to know the Alphabet. It really does not have a certain plot, or charecter or a setting. In extention ideas I might have the children make up their own words that relate to the alphabet. As in A - Apple, B -Bat. In this collection of words the class might make up their own book.

"Dr. Seuss's ABC" is a unique take on the Alphabet song. The book can be read to the tune of "ABCS" and incorporates a great cast of characters. Readers will be introduced to Little Lola Lopp, Nixie Knox, and of course, Rosy Ross who owns a red rhinoceros while learning the alphabet. While many Seuss books reveal a deep, underlying truth, this book is all fun and games. The humorous tone is present throughout. The sometimes tongue twisting language will keep readers of all ages wondering, "What begins with 'A'?"In a class, I would assign a letter to each one my students and have them create their own verse. We would then perform their version in front of other classes. The students could act out their version or the original version. Each student would have a part in the production. Older children could include makeshift sets, costumes, and props.
