About this audiobook

Without the Keys, something terrible will happen.
Something that cannot be undone.
And with them, I might bring an end to the riddle of the Prophecy and my strange part in it.

If Alice and I are on conflicting sides of the Prophecy,
the Keys would be dangerous in her hands.
Which means I have to find them.
And I have to do it before my sister.

Sixteen year-old Lia Milthorpe has just recently lost her father, leaving her parentless. But when a strange mark appears on her wrist, she realizes she is being branded with much more than her newfound title of orphan. Lia and her twin sister Alice are part of an ancient prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other.

Lia hides this discovery from Alice and even from her beloved James, but to escape from the burden this secret bestows she must end the prophecy – before her sister. Only then will she understand the mysterious circumstances of her parents' deaths, the true meaning of the mark on her wrist, the lengths to which her sister will go to defeat her, and the impact the resolution of the prophecy could have.

With, haunting, lyrical prose, this multi-layered story of family, friendship, and romance explores the timeless question of predetermination versus free will. And it takes readers on an unforgettable coming-of-age journey where one sister's self-discovery could have an impact of Biblical proportion.

This is the author's third book and each one has been a treat to read. He is very much the next Grisham and his novels are just brilliant.Back Cover Blurb:City lawyer Beck Hardin hasn't been back to the small Texas town where he grew up for more than twenty years. But when his wife dies, Beck decides to return to Frederickburg with his two young children. Leaving the rat-race behind, he comes back to a beautiful but troubled small town, simmering with old rivalries. Then Beck learns of an unsolved case that has haunted Fredericksburg for the past five years. The statute of limitations on the case is fast approaching, and Beck has a race against time to try and solve it. But in taking it on he has made the most dangerous decision of his life....

I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this, and the many facets to the story telling. There were a lot of side lines where you wonder what it has to do with the novel, but that actually works - it means you get to know the characters well and understand what life is like in Fredricksburg. The legal side of the novel has two main storylines, both of which I enjoyed, though I think the twists could have been better played.

Another terrific legal thriller from Mark Gimenez. I can't understand why this guy hasn't become more popular yet. In this story the protagonist becomes a local judge, although he may not remain one for long, since he is not from an old German family in Fredericksburg, TX.....a real place in the Texas Hill Country I knew nothing about, in spite of my Texas relatives. Very sympathetic characters and a page-turner story. Just slightly less riveting than his previous 3 books.
