Arthur Blauefee promised to stay away from Jeremy Tyler forever. But when he learns that his troubled, heartbroken ex-lover has been seduced and swindled out of his inheritance, Arthur is off to the rescue.

After rekindling their passionate affair, the starry-eyed lovers learn that Jeremy’s plight has gone from terrible to worse. Not only has Jeremy been cheated out of his fortune, he’s been framed for murder. Desperate to clear Jeremy’s name, the pair travels to Greece in pursuit of the nefarious conman Lazzaro Sforza and enters a shady world of sex rings, designer drugs, and international intrigue.

Aided by the powerful hallucinogen Sueño Gris, Jeremy journeys into his past lives. Hopscotching through time, from the Civil War all the way back to the Roman Empire, Jeremy discovers that Lazzaro has betrayed him many times before. Can Arthur and Jeremy finally trump the scheming Lazzaro, or are they doomed to repeat their ill-fated pasts?

Nick Nolan

Nick Nolan was born and raised in Los Angeles, the city he has haunted for over two decades. Working nights and weekends selling furniture to put himself through college, Nolan went on to direct a group home for homeless and abused LGBT youth. During his scant spare time, he began writing. Inspired by the works of writers like Armistead Maupin, Paul Russell, and Paul Monette, he penned his debut novel, Strings Attached, the first in a planned trilogy. Shortly after its release, Strings Attached was named the 2006 Gay/Lesbian Book of the Year by ForeWord Magazine, hit #1 in Gay Fiction on Amazon.com, and spent nearly a year in that genre’s Top 10. Two years later Nolan’s second thriller Double Bound won Book of the Year awards for Gay/Lesbian Fiction by both ForeWord Magazine and ReaderViews. Nick, his partner and their two beloved dogs divide their time between their home in the San Fernando Valley and their cabin high in the mountains of California. A third novel is expected soon.

Narrator Luke Daniels slapped me wide awake! Forcing me to shut up and listen up. His old-school style narration was on par with the characters. I loved his voice and the cadence of his reading is well-lubed and perfect for this genre. This audiobook is one of those golden nuggets that can be enjoyed as a standalone. I was kind of disoriented when I started this audiobook on Scribd. They are fucked-uply not delivering a good service. It is impossible to search for a substantial amount of gay fiction. When you do find something, you either heard it before or it’s low-grade narration and/or short stories 6 hours and less. Anyway, hence the golden nugget here. The sad search capabilities did not indicate the books in reading order, nor did they indicate whether the book is part of a series, if an author does not indicate it in their summaries, readers and listeners would be poking around in the dark. As much as I liked to be poked in the dark, this shit is not fun and should be remedied, I mean if you want to run with the big dogs, you need to piss higher!

I listened to this reading at 1.2 speed while being swept up by lovers with a big age gap, drama surrounding alcoholism, and bad choices, but the best and biggest surprise was the fantasy element. I did not expect it and I reveled in it. I did go back to listen to Black as Snow and Strings Attached, this audiobook was definitely a flash in the pan. Books one and two were not nearly as good, and I ended up not needing to hear them at all because the author captured all the nitty-gritty background stuff perfectly again in book three. This plot is intertwined with strands of time and previous lifetimes, totally my Achilles heel. It was escapism at its best!

    I do recommend this audiobook
