Dexter Yates loves his fun, carefree London life; he has money, looks, and girlfriends galore. But everything changes overnight when his sister dies, leaving him in charge of her eight-month-old daughter Delphi. How is he ever going to cope?
Comic-strip artist Molly Hayes lives in the beautiful Cotswold village of Briarwood. When it comes to relationships, she has a history of choosing all the wrong men. Leaving the city behind, Dex moves to Briarwood-a much better place to work on his parenting skills-and he and Molly become neighbors. There's an undeniable connection between them. But if Dexter's going to adapt, he first has a lot to learn about Molly, about other people's secrets . . . and about himself.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5As always you will get more than one HEA and that is why Mansell's books are so fun. I love the love in the air. Even side characters, that are truly on the side gets a HEA.
But the book is about Dex and Molly. Dex is the womanizing partyboy (who I would not have liked if he had stayed like that). But he changes and becomes respectable, and is truly a god guy.
Molly is the nice down to earth neighbor. There are sparks, but are they just friendship sparks? These two have a very very long way to go.
And that is what I like, love that takes time, love that grows from friendship. Love that when you realize it's love, you already know each other well.
As for the side stories. There is a tale of lost love, hurt love and found love. You will see.
Mansell's books are cute and always enjoyable.

Would I read more
Yes - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An excellent example of a gifted storyteller on top form. Engrossing , funny and moving I read it in one session.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A light by but enjoyable book.Dexter, man about town, suddenly has to take life seriously when his sister dies and he is left as guardian of a small baby. The only person who believes that he can make it work is Molly, who lives in a pretty country village where Dexter recently bought a second home. Hoping for help with childcare, and also to bring up his niece in a better environment, Dexter moves to the country full time. Lots of single characters, who all get paired up over the duration. And couple of clever twists, which it would be a shame to reveal. I spotted one coming, but that is to the credit of the writer as she wrote the character so that one sensed a motive beyond the obvious one.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5After reading "To the Moon and Back" and falling in love with it, I had to get my hands on any other Jill Mansell's books I could find. I only find one of her newest "Don't Want to Miss a Thing". I enjoyed the book very much, and not only the main characters story but all the other characters as well. Jill has a way of making everything and everyone connected in her talented writer's web, creating a perfect story from characters to emotions to setting and EVERYTHING else. I adore her books, can't wait to get the rest.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Delightful audio read by Alison Larkin. Several stories around the main one involving Delphi--quite fun to listen to because the characters are so enjoyable and likable.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Dexter finds himself unexpectedly caring for his niece when his sister dies. Along the way there is romance for not only Dex, but everyone else in the village that to which he relocates. A fun read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Things are getting busy with life lately (and I've been spending a lot of time with murder mysteries!) so I decided I needed a nice light, fun, feel-good, read. And I knew just the author to pick up! Jill Mansell always delivers a wonderfully warm chick lit read.Don't Want to Miss a Thing is her latest North American release.I was surprised in the first pages - this time 'round we have a male lead character. Dexter is a 'player' - he's got the looks, the money and no lack of female company in London. When his older sister Laura gives birth to her daughter Delphi, Dex falls in love for the first time in his life. Then the unthinkable happens - Laura dies. With no partner she names Dex as Delphi's guardian. Dexter is hesitant - he just doesn't believe he can raise this little girl...but he loves Delphi dearly. He decides to permanently move to his weekend home in a small village in the Cotswolds. His new neighbours welcome him to the community and next door neighbour Molly offers to help out with Delphi. And could there be a little spark between Molly and Dex? The village is full of wonderfully warm, real, eclectic characters, each with their own story - and their own romantic entanglements. Mansell's characters range from teenagers to older adults and those in between. Each one is wonderfully drawn. Every reader will find a character that they can identify with and root for. It's impossible not to be drawn into their world and their lives. You begin to imagine yourself sitting on the stool in the local café, catching up on the local gossip.Mansell is a master of the rom com story. Although we have lots of will they, won't they, near misses and close encounters, we know that in the end, things will turn out just as we want them to. (But Mansell still injects a dose of reality with some of the situations.) Really, who doesn't love a happy ending. And with Jill Mansell, the trip to that happy ending is oh, so enjoyable! Don't Want to Miss a Thing was a wonderful, warm read - a perfect get away from it all tale filled with love and laughter. Absolutely recommended.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Jill Mansell has long been a favourite author of mine – ever since I read her first novel Fast Friends back in 1991. This is her 24th novel and I still love every book. Dexter Yates is young, good looking, rich and has women scrambling at his feet. His only relative is his sister Laura and the two are very close. When Laura gives birth to Delphi, Dexter falls in love …..but soon after tragedy strikes and Dexter finds himself the guardian of baby Delphi. Can he give up his old life and be the parent that Dephi needs? As always, Jill Mansell has created a wonderful cast of characters. As charismatic and good looking as he is, Dexter is probably the kind of bloke that any right thinking woman should avoid like the plague – he seems to be incapable of being faithful and believes in living life to the full in his London bachelor pad. However when baby Delphi comes into his life, we see another side to him emerging. It remains to be seen whether a leopard can change his spots though. When Molly, his neighbour in the Cotswolds village of Briarwood first meets Dexter, there is an instant attraction between them – but Molly won’t stand for any nonsense and the story follows the ups and downs of their friendship. I loved the character of Molly. She’s a talented artist, with a kind and caring manner but who seems to attract the wrong men. The story is not all about Molly and Dexter however and another main character is Molly’s friend, Frankie. She runs the local café and has her own relationship and family problems to deal with. This was a fabulous warm, romantic and witty read with some great characters that you could relate to and engage with. Delphi was just adorable and one of the few fiction babies that could make me feel broody. I became completely engrossed in their lives and although you could probably predict how the story would end, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Now this was a pleasant surprise indeed. Somehow I've had in my head for a long time that I really can't stand Jill Mansell books, but I picked this one up to make up the numbers for a 3 for 2 deal, and absolutely loved it.I really enjoyed having the male and female points of view of a budding romance, and also other viewpoints from the key villagers and neighbours of the couple concerned. There were also some passages which made me cry, particularly at the beginning with the loss of our hero's sister (in the blurb, so no spoiler). The comedy and social irony is just spot on, and the baby wasn't too intrusive - I'm not a baby fan, so it's definitely not a gooey book (thank goodness). The story made me laugh and it made me cheer, so what more can I ask for? I will be trying more Mansell books in the future.
