Good read, though sometimes it dragged a little for me. The ending was good, although a little predictable and rushed maybe? But I'll definitely keep reading the series. :)

This was a good escape book--an easy read with plenty of romance and plenty of action. I might have liked a little bit more detail for some of the plot points, but all in all, there was just enough to hold everything together and keep the story moving quickly. There was a little bit of the insta-love element, but in this case it made sense because it's a husband and wife re-uniting after a mysterious absence and a bout of amnesia. Convenient, yes, but also believable enough in the way it was presented. I'm anxious to see how Zanetti will handle the (slow?) build of a romance in the next book in the series, but as a start to the series, this was a good book and a good way to jump in. So, yes, if fast action and steamy romance and intrigue appeal, I'd recommend this one!

Sometimes one gets caught up in what a rating should be and what you want to give. I am giving this a straight up 5. I didn't think I would like it but the more I got into this the better it was. Glad that this is a series and I do intend on finishing the next three books The Sin brothers are absolutely awesome. They are to me what family should be. One for all and yes that is so with these three. Having one another's back. The hardships that they face were sad but they so far have survived.

Shane having lost is memory and having a wife and not remembering. Actually there were four but one is supposed to have died and they are trying to find out if he is. Lot's of action and it was fast moving. Add to that they are trained as Black Ops. Great storyline.

“I love you, angel. It’s the one thing I remember without a doubt.” – Shane DeanOne of these days, I swear, all this uniformed male population that I “force” myself to read about will be the end of me… I suspect it will be an end much appreciated!Josie Dean hasn’t forgotten her husband – nor has she forgiven him. The guy just left her alone, with no explanation whatsoever, two months after they got married, and now, two years later, he thinks they can pick up where they left off? No way! As soon as Shane gets his memories back, he’ll leave again, anyway, so why not leave him first this time around? But Shane doesn’t agree with the plan at all. He may not remember anything before the time he woke up with amnesia in a hospital bed, but all his instincts call for him to keep this angel he calls wife as safe and as close as possible. Will they manage to give their marriage a second chance? Or will the truth about Shane’s true identity tear them apart once more?Usually, in series and family sagas, I don’t like the first male lead. Well, while in this case, Shane’s big brother, Matt, intrigues me more, I have to admit that I wasn’t disappointed when it came to him, either. Shane is like this big, protective puppy. I think, as Josie later in the book realized, this was because of his amnesia – it made him vulnerable at times, and had him trying to keep control of his dark and needy side, though his attempts were futile. I loved how he couldn’t even remember what kind of food he liked, but the minute his wife was in danger, he instantly switched to protector mode without questioning it. And God help all female readers when that man turns on the charm – Josie fought him off very well, but the man was really something when he let his dominant side come out to play, so I don’t blame her for losing every time, at least she put up a good fight. Also, what I came to enjoy in this male lead was the fact he blushed when he became aroused. Finally! I thought only women were capable of blood circulation to more parts than their genitals with the way all writers refuse to write a guy flushed during the act – heaven forbids a man actually has colored cheeks while he’s busy showing what a beast he is in bed! *gasps* Thankfully, Mrs. Zanetti ignored this cliche and made sure to show that Shane was human, too, despite his many differences to a normal human being.Josie… Oh, Josie, darling, how did you know badass heroines are my favorites?! You naughty girl, you had me hooked the very minute I realized you pretty much didn’t need Shane to get out of sticky situations. No emotional meltdowns, no girly-kitty-bitchy antics, and no damsel-in-distress – Josie didn’t need any guy to save her, she was busy doing all the saving herself! I mean it, the woman got kidnapped so many times in the book, and all the time, she did 90% of the job alone, and let Shane take care of the little details that needed a man’s rough touch. She didn’t back down, and she didn’t deny still loving him, either – which makes her attitude towards Shane even more understandable, since it was based on survival instincts. And once Josie loves, she loves with all her heart, I can guarantee that. She instantly adopts Shane’s brothers as her family, and she has no trouble playing either the doting female, or the badass hellcat, depending on what the moment needs her to be. Oh, and did I mention she kicks some serious ass? Because she totally does! But this is not just your typical military romance. Shane and his brothers are more than just super awesome, specially trained soldiers. And the suspense and action take equal parts of the book in this story. They blend together so well, it’s impossible to imagine one without the other. Also, it reminds me of a manga I love to death, called Dogs:Bullets & Carnage – where one of the protagonists is a genetically enhanced super soldier, created by a psycho lady scientist who has abused him to the point his whole view on the female gender has become way too twisted (though Heine Rammsteiner got gynophobia from all this, but you get the concept). I can’t wait to read the other two books – or, three, if my cousin’s theory regarding the fourth brother, Jory, is correct. Speaking of other books, Mattie’s story is next – and I have a feeling the first brother will be my kind of man, just you wait!Mrs. Zanetti, thank you for introducing me to the Sin Brothers, and for gifting those delicious Alpha males to us female readers!“I love you. I always have.” – Josie Dean***I was given an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinion stated in this review is solely mine, and no compensation was given or taken to alter it.***

For a romantic suspense junkie such as myself, I really enjoyed Forgotten Sins. Imagine a sexier version of Universal Soldier. The story drew me in right from the first page, and I didn't put it down until I was finished. The story was well paced, and there was a good balance between action and character development.

Shane and Josie made a great couple, and their chemistry was believable due to their history. Their backgrounds seemed to complement each other in some ways but threatened to pull them apart in others. It was that push and pull that made me feel invested in them very early on. I love a heroine who can defend herself if necessary, so to see Josie use some fighting skills to get herself out of a bind was a delight. The verbal and physical sparring also seemed to get both of them worked up which was hot. Despite their tough exterior, the sadness that Shane, Matt and Nate harbored inside each of them made me love them even more. They were highly intelligent when it came to combat, warfare and technology, but in matters of the heart or women in general, sometimes the words they spoke had a childlike quality to them.

There were two mysteries running parallel in this book, one was the threat to Josie and the other that was a threat to Shane. It wasn't confusing to follow, but I found the threat to her a little unnecessary.

    **SPOILER**

Since Tom and Danny were already in place to keep her under surveillance, I saw no real point in having the drug-addicted colleague disappear so that she could take over the accounts and come face to face with Dr. Madison for the first time. Josie didn't even put two and two together when she was eavesdropping on Shane, Matt and Nate, and they mentioned genetic engineering and neuropsychology. By then the connection between her account and Shane should have dawned on her.

    **END SPOILER**

Things that I didn't agree with:

    1) Josie putting her job before her safety which led to Shane having to come to her rescue three(!) times.

    2) Throughout the entire story (or what felt like it), her issues with abandonment kept coming up via her history in foster care. Emphasizing it once or twice was sufficient to get the picture.

    3) Tom was her friend, but he obviously would have liked more. Once Josie was sure that she wanted to give her marriage a second chance, she still allowed Tom to talk to her like she didn't know her own mind instead of putting him firmly in his place.

Overall, I loved how action-packed this story was and how evil the villains were. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Two years after being deserted by her husband, Josie Dean walks into a hospital room to find him suffering from amnesia. Shane Dean can't remember anything other than the fact that he loves his wife and will do anything to regain her love and her trust. Unfortunately, Josie is being targeted by dangerous foes who may or may not be related to Shane’s past. Can he protect her from them and perhaps even from himself?

An enjoyable romantic suspense read despite the rather convoluted plot.

Josie’s sweetness hides a core of steel and, contrary to Shane’s belief, she is quite capable of taking care of herself in dire situations. Nevertheless, she does have one or two borderline TSTL moments and she if far too trusting given the circumstances.

Shane is a sexy hero and his amnesia only makes him all the more enigmatic. Moreover, this memory loss allows him to reveal his true self to Josie and to win her over despite her reservations. That said, Shane’s possessive streak and his over-protectiveness get old after a while and it takes him too long to realize that Josie isn’t the soft and fragile woman he believes her to be.

The best aspect of the book is Shane’s relationship with his brothers. The Dean boys’ sense of family and loyalty to one another is wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the way in which they extend that to include Josie.

The main problem with the book is the overly complicated plot, which has too many parallel storylines. The money laundering element is completely unnecessary in the larger scheme of things and its resolution appears totally out of the blue. Moreover, it comes at the expense of the military experiments theme, which is underdeveloped although it is possible that more information will be forthcoming in future installments.

In sum, the overall story arc is very intriguing and I look forward to seeing how the Dean brothers overcome the obstacles that are set up in this book.

I enjoyed this book. I have had a copy of this book for a long time but for one reason or another I never picked it up. I have been such a mood reader lately and when I saw this book while browsing the audiobooks on my library's website, this felt like the perfect time to get started with this series. I found this to be a very easy story to slip into and I found myself hooked right away. I am so glad that I finally decided to give this book a try.The book opens with Josie arriving at the hospital, after being called about her husband, Shane. This is a husband that she hasn't seen for two years and a husband that has lost his memory and doesn't know what is going on. I couldn't wait to find out what caused Shane to leave her two years ago and what was really going on now that put him in the situation to lose his memory.I liked Shane and Josie a lot and I really wanted to see them work things out and stay together this time around. Shane had lost his memories but the chemistry between the pair was still present from the very start. He also kept his instincts and seemed to surprise himself with some of the things that he knew and was able to do. Josie still had feelings for Shane but she was guarded and tried to remain practical. She wasn't helpless and didn't hesitate to stand up for herself. The story was pretty exciting. There was a lot of action and quite a few scenes where the characters were in some danger. I did enjoy learning more about Shane and his brothers and watching them work together to get things done. Josie, Shane, Matt, and Nate all really stepped up when they needed to and I even enjoyed the role that the local detective played in the story. I thought that the story's romance and action were really well balanced.Karen White did a fabulous job with the narration of this story. I believe that this was my first experience with this narrator but I will definitely be looking for more of her work in the future. I thought that she did a great job with all of the character voices and she added a lot of excitement and emotion into her reading. I believe that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.I would recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. I really enjoyed the story from beginning to end and thought that the characters were very well done. I cannot wait to read more of this exciting series very soon.

Listened for Review (Hachette Audio)Overall Rating: 4.50Story Rating: 4.75Character Rating: 4.25Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)First Thought when Finished: OMG Forgotten Sins by Rebecca Zanetti pulled me immediately and never let me go! Action, Suspense, and a dash of romance--great combo!Story Thoughts: Holy Romantic Suspense Batman--this was a great mix of Suspense/Thriller/Romance. In fact, I would even suggest it to some straight suspense readers that I know because the romance was really balanced with the action. I liked the idea of a secret program (evil of course) that trained men so well that they were equipped to fight back. This truly is one of those novels where you get some answers but are compelled to read on because the overall story arc hasn't played out to the end. No cliffhanger but you are left with a sense of intrigue that will have you counting down to the next book.Character Thoughts: Alright, first let me address Josie. I think she had a few moments in the beginning of TSTL (too stupid to live). She was most definitely the kind of fish that would swim upstream instead of going with the flow. That being said, she was pretty self-sufficient and I liked her spunk! Shane is who I fell for hard. Even in his memory lapsed brain, I loved his alphaness coupled with his tenderness. He truly made me swoon and I think maybe Josie's headstrong behavior (aka the ability to get into life threatening situations) is something he needed in a woman. Someone a little fearless but still needed a hero!Audio Thoughts: Narrated by: Karen White /Length: 11 hrs and 48 mins Karen White was really good at catching the "tone" of Forgotten Sins. She had the right pacing for the thrilling parts and knew when to slow it down a pinch for the heart to hearts! I will be continuing this on audio even if I have to wait :)Final Thoughts: Next one PLEASE!

How does this cover NOT make you want to jump right in? OK imagine this, your madly in love with your husband but when day he leaves and never comes back. You are heartbroken and you hate that he left you. You have 'moved on' with your life and 2 years later there is a call from the hospital telling you that he has been found and all of a sudden he is back in your life. That is how FORGOTTEN SINS starts. There is a lot of clashing and a lot of trust issues, It took a while until both Shane and Josie were on the same page but when they got there, it was SMOKIN'! The secondary characters are just as exciting as the mail couple. The storyline is well developed and the paranormal factor rounds it all out. I enjoyed this book so much I had to jump right into the second. Bring me more!* This book was provided free of charge from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Being the first in a series with one of my favorite authors
excites me; and this one did not disappoint.

The story flowed well. It was fast paces filled with action
and chemistry between the main characters. The dynamic between
the brothers was great and had me looking forward to
seeing more of Nathan and Mattie (and maybe Jory?)

You can find this review at My Favorite Things (heffroberts.blogspot.com)Forgotten Sins by Rebecca Zanetti is a slightly paranormal romance. If you liked the New Species Series by Laurann Dohner then you will definitely love this book.It is the story of the Sins brothers, genetically enhanced children raised to be Super Soldiers by a seriously sick & twisted, possibly government sanctioned, genetic research company.I like that the story seems as though it will continue and follow each of the brothers, each book taking you closer to the resolution of their predicament. They were all endearing characters, although I found that Josie faltered, a lot, and that got annoying. Shane seemed liked the kind of guy you would want to always be with, alpha, protective, strong, loyal.I really enjoyed this romance and look forward to the next in the series, especially as there was a preview of the first chapter of the next book at the end of this one - LOVE that!

Wow! What a book. I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but what I did get was a great story with some very compelling brothers. I'm so excited to see where this series is going to go and see how the brothers come out in the end. Josie made a good match for Shane and had him running to catch up a few times. Shane is the type a guy you want around. He's devoted, protective, got mad skills in and out of bed and has gorgeous grey eyes. What more could you ask for? Can't wait for Matt's story. Hopefully I won't have to wait long. I completely recommend this book to any one who likes romantic suspense books. You won't be disappointed.ARC provided by Netgalley

Reviewed by: Rabid ReadsFORGOTTEN SINS is a unique blend of romantic suspense, military thriller, and paranormal—to be honest, I’ve never listened to anything quite like it. I was reluctant to add this title to my to-be-read pile at first because I tend to stay away from straight-up contemporary, and the amnesia story line was a bit of a turn-off. However, Rebecca Zanetti’s beautiful writing style, and Karen White’s enchanting performance quickly sold me on the merits of this genre blending audiobook, and the smexy SIN BROTHERS definitely helped to further seal the deal. This high octave listen will have you staying up well past your bedtime, and the sex scenes will also ensure that your partner won’t be getting much sleep either. The plot line of this novel is masterfully crafted; I enjoyed watching the various threads unfold, and I loved how just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, the author surprises you. I went from thinking that Shane’s reappearance was to blame—to suspecting Josie’s clients, coworkers, and kinda boyfriend—to government conspiracies, and back again. Zanetti does a superb job of keeping readers guessing up until the very end, and the way that it all comes together is exquisite. I found myself enjoying the amnesia angle way more than expected because it helped to add an extra level of mystery to the story, and then there’s the characters… wow! I’ve only just met the SIN BROTHERS, and already I find myself hard-pressed to pick a favourite.Shane Dean is the epitome of alpha male; he’s inhumanly strong and fiercely loyal, but there’s also an underlying sweetness to him that’ll make your panties melt. I loved how in spite of his memory loss, his body and soul still recognized Josie as his. Their love for one another is rooted at such a basic level that it seemed almost instinctual at times which made the love scenes doubly explosive. It takes a strong heroine to hold her own against one of the SIN BROTHERS, and Josie was certainly up to the task. Her character is obviously struggling with abandonment issues, and I liked how she consistently disproved the brothers’ opinions of her “soft” nature by kicking butt. This was my first experience with Karen White as a narrator, and I have to say that I was impressed. It took a couple of chapters for her to get the pacing down pat, but once she found her rhythm there was no stopping her! White’s tone mirrored the author’s writing to perfection; she successfully conveyed all of the characters’ emotions in any given scene, and also managed to capture the sexiness of Dean’s Southern twang. Needless to say, I enjoyed the narrator’s delivery, and will definitely be listening to SWEET REVENGE instead of reading it. What an outstanding performance!FORGOTTEN SINS is one smexy audiobook! Great story, suspenseful plot, and the man-candy—oh, la la!

I absolutely love it! Zanetti immerses you into the world of four brothers who have been genetically engineered as part of a covert military experiment whose purpose is to create an elite force of government assassins. Conceived in test tubes and genetically altered to give them superhuman traits, the brothers grew up and trained in a military facility under the supervision of a maleficent, ruthless Commander whose sole mission has been to make them killing machines. When the series begins, the brothers have escaped the Commander and have all gone undercover to expose and dismantle the operation of these monsters who created and held them captive since birth. Success is crucial if the brothers plan to survive because all of these super soldiers have been surgically implanted with a kill chip set to detonate every five years unless the chip is updated with a top secret access code. With three months left until the chip explodes, the clock is ticking and time is of the essence. This first book features the story of Shane, one of the younger brothers and his sudden reappearance into his soon-to-be-ex-wife’s life. After a whirlwind romance and only two months of marriage, Josie is devastated and heartbroken when Shane abandoned her two years ago. Now, she’s struggling to start her life over and move forward. The divorce papers have been drawn up, and when Shane resurfaces, all she wants is for him to sign them and leave. Even though Shane can’t remember Josie, his body’s visceral reaction sparks a deep need within him to protect her, and be by her side. He refuses to follow through with the divorce until he recovers his memories so he can understand how in the world he could ever walk away from this special woman. It soon becomes clear that both Shane and Josie are in danger from unknown enemies and neither is certain of why. As bits and pieces of Shane’s past are revealed, Josie realizes how little she actually knows about her husband. He’s still the commanding, possessive man she remembers, but she also starts to see a more open, vulnerable side of him that he no longer tries to mask. Even after all of this time, their desire and passion for each other is still strong, and as they work together to find out who is after them, their relationship gets rekindled, and their romance sizzles until Josie discovers their relationship was never based on honesty. She can’t stay with a man she doesn’t trust, and although the truth is heartbreaking and I can understand why she wants to walk away, I can’t help but hope they can find their way back to each other. When Shane’s older brothers, Matt and Nathan, arrive to help, they bring with them the truth and harsh reality that their world is much too dangerous for a woman like Josie. However, Josie surprises us all with her strength, fearlessness, and ability to take care of herself in dangerous situations. She proves over and over to Shane and his brothers she is tough enough to survive the danger that shadows them. This is an amazing love story that shows the healing power of love. The book is full of suspenseful action, mystery, and danger that will keep you turning the pages for more.

I was excited to read it, and that may have been my issue, because once I opened it up, I was let down. Don’t get me wrong, this author seemed to produce a good story, but it just didn’t quite get to where I wanted it to go. Having a background in law enforcement and military, I found those parts lacking in the story. Some things actually seemed a bit cheesy and I was expecting to see a turning point, as if the way the book was going was just pulling my leg. But it wasn’t, or rather, didn’t. The heroine confused me with her back and forth pull. Now, I know we all like to see the angst develop in if someone wants someone or not, and the drama between a hero and heroine is great; however with this heroine, she seemed like she needed medication more than anything. And she seemed to forget quite a bit just because she was thinking with something between her legs, rather than on her shoulders. Yikes. Sounds harsh, and I don’t intend it to be, but it’s true.I really wanted to like it. Truly and really did. But I didn’t. And I couldn’t even finish it. I will check out more from this author and give her another chance. Three out of five stars for effort.
