About this audiobook

A year ago, Flynn Cormac and Jubilee Chase made the now infamous Avon Broadcast, calling on the galaxy to witness for their planet, and protect them from destruction. Some say Flynn's a madman, others whisper about conspiracies. Nobody knows the truth. A year before that, Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux were rescued from a terrible shipwreck-now, they live a public life in front of the cameras, and a secret life away from the world's gaze.

Now, in the center of the universe on the planet of Corinth, all four are about to collide with two new players, who will bring the fight against LaRoux Industries to a head. Gideon Marchant is an eighteen-year-old computer hacker known in Corinth's underworld as The Knave of Hearts. He'll climb, abseil and worm his way past the best security measures to pull off onsite hacks that others don't dare touch.

Sofia Quinn has a killer smile, and by the time you're done noticing it, she's got you offering up your wallet, your car, and anything else she desires. She holds LaRoux Industries responsible for the mysterious death of her father and is out for revenge at any cost.

When a LaRoux Industries security breach interrupts Gideon and Sofia's separate attempts to infiltrate their headquarters, they're forced to work together to escape. Each of them has their own reason for wanting to take down LaRoux Industries, and neither trusts the other. But working together might be the best chance they have to expose the secrets LRI is so desperate to hide.

While I liked this book and thought it was an appropriate ending to the trilogy, I think everything is a bit of a let-down after the astounding imagination present in the first book.

Gideon, AKA The Knave of Hearts and Sofia Quinn are the final pair of players in this last installment of the Starbound series. Both want to end the evil spawned by LaRoux Industries, but in different ways. Sophia wants to kill LaRoux, while Gideon wants to expose the corruption with his and others' hacking skills. The situation is complicated by a giant misunderstanding between them that isn't uncovered until the story is steaming along. When the protagonists from the first two installments, Lilac LaRoux, Tarver Merendsen, Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac become involved, the story speeds up and involves not only a monumental disaster, but a cliffhanger regarding the decision the Whisperers have to make about humanity. There's love, distrust, carnage, intrigue, more intrigue and a dandy ending in this book. It's an excellent conclusion to an outstanding series. Please do not cheat yourself by reading this if you haven't read the first two in the series. Your experience will be far less satisfying if you do.Teens who love well crafted plots, dystopian fiction, love stories and plenty of action will devour this book. I look forward to more great books from this team.

Fun, fast-paced, emotional space opera. Satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. For readers who like light romance with their sci-fi.

The Starbound Trilogy Finale- 4.5 stars...

I actually liked this finale I think the best of all three books. I think because all the characters were back in this one together for one last final showdown and the whole whispers and rift thing seemed to finally make sense to me.

I listened to the audio version too of this one and the narrator was really good except for the part where they actually whisper the "whispers." It sounded like they used some type of voice over, which was hard to understand unless you turned it up really loud and listen really closely. So I could have done without the voice-overs. It just distracted from an otherwise great narration.

I was very pleased with the ending though. I really liked it a lot. Everything was wrapped up with a nice neat bow just how I like it. I'm a little disappointed now though because I've read everything there is to read of Amie Kaufman's, that is except Gemina which I am not so patiently waiting for. I need that book right now!

The Starbound series comes to an end with this book. This time the focus is on Gideon and Sophia. Gideon is the ultimate hacker determined to bring down LaRoux because he blames him, rightly, for the death of his older brother. Sophia is an orphan turned con woman whose main goal is LaRoux's death since she blames him for the death of her father. The two have their paths cross on Corinth where LaRoux is planning to launch his epic coup and bring peace to the universe - a peace forces by beings inhabiting the rift. Neither Gideon nor Sophia can trust the other. Both are playing roles to reach their goals. If they allowed themselves, and sometimes despite themselves, they are falling in love. Also converging on Corinth are Lilac LaRoux and her fiance Tarver and Jubilee and Flynn. There paths have been subtly manipulated by the being in the rift who want to learn more about humans and human emotions. All six of them will have to make very difficult decisions through the course of this story. The story is filled with action but it is also filled with soul-searching and moral decisions. Interludes from the beings in the rift are also sprinkled between chapters from Gideon's viewpoint and chapters from Sophia's viewpoint. I thought this was an excellent conclusion to an engaging series.

Loved it! The authors did a wonderful job balancing all six of the main protagonists in this final installment.

I love it when a series ties up nicely! So hard to finish off a trilogy with a plot line that doesn't bulge unpleasantly at the sides in order to squeeze everything in. Nope, TFL is slim, svelte and satisfying. Trying to link 3 separate romance stories together could have ended in a tangled mess, but everyone loves a tie-in/crossover (myself included) and so I was ready to accept a certain level of plot weakening to get all the characters in place, but I need not have worried. The story was well-planned and logical, as well as carefully balanced between keeping the action going and exploring each character's reactions to events based on their individual backgrounds. Overall, a good fun sci-fi with just enough romance, adventure and mystery. Great holiday read.

Their Fractured Light focuses on a new pair of teenagers but the events of the previous books are very relevant to this one and certain characters make important appearances. This is the third part of a trilogy, rather a companion-novel which could possibly standalone. Sofia wants revenge for what happened to her family on Avon. She’s spent the last year hiding her identity and building contacts as she works towards that goal. She’s at a LaRoux Industries in Corinth to meet one of her contacts when something goes wrong and she has to get out fast. She ends up making her escape another attendee, a boy who turns out to be on a similar mission.Gideon’s a hacker and his goals align closely enough with Sofia’s that they end up joining forces. But they both have secrets which threaten their partnership.I really enjoyed the first half of this story, as the two of them use their different strengths to escape some dangerous situations, and I was riveted by the second half, as everyone comes together and everything falls apart. Like the first book, I could imagine this one being awesome as a film, with its pretty dresses and dramatic scenery. And it was really interesting seeing characters from the previous books turn up - and seeing them through Sofia and Gideon’s perspectives.I have mixed feelings about how the trilogy resolves. I really didn’t want it to have the sort of ending some dystopian YA trilogies have - especially as that wouldn’t have been the right sort of ending for this story - but ending on such an upbeat note seem like swinging a bit too far in the opposite direction. I also would have liked fewer answers and more ambiguity. But that’s just me. I wouldn’t want to change anything dramatic about the ending, and I enjoyed the journey so much, so I’m not going to complain. “No,” she admits. “I don’t do computers. People make more sense to me.” She sure worked those guys back in the holosuite like she knows where to find the buttons and levers in people’s brains - and though I couldn’t quite hear, I’m pretty sure she was trying to throw me under the bus until the guards made it clear she’d be joining me there. Still, I can’t really blame her - it was a tight spot, and all’s fair in love, war, and criminal trespassing.
