About this audiobook

A man's body is found on a canal towpath. In his pocket, a magnetic letter in the shape of an E.

Days later, a second victim is found, this time with the letter V tucked into her clothing.

As the body count rises, the eerie, childlike clues point to a pattern that sends DS Allie Shenton and her colleagues into full alert.

The race is on. Allie and the team must work quickly to determine where the killer will strike next. The rules are simple but deadly-to catch the killer, they must follow the leader.

From the acclaimed author of Taunting the Dead comes a flesh-creeping tale of a child's game with a terrifying, grown-up twist. This is the second book in the DS Allie Shenton series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

A serial killer has hit and he's leaving behind plastic letter magnets behind on his kills as clues for the detectives investigating his murders. He's relentless, killing every 2 days and the victims all went to school together over 20 years ago. Each chapter begins with a flashback to the killer's younger years detailing his father's relentless physical, emotional and verbal abuse, the beatings he took from bullies at school, and the teasing that never ended from his classmates. Wow, this kid never caught a break and it's almost unbelievable that he even made it to adulthood with the amount of severe beatings he took. It's no wonder he's looking for revenge so many years later against all the people who tormented him so. Intermingled with this mystery is the personal tale of torture that one of the main detectives is enduring after her sister, who is now in a nearly vegetative state, was brutally attacked and raped 20 years ago and her rapist now seems to be targeting the detective after being dormant for so long. A very compelling mystery, I really enjoyed this story. Thank you for the First Reads copy.
