      That was not as fun. Less science, lots of new mysteries, and very little progress. I feel a creeping X-files fear that the plot will just continue to elaborate and elaborate in future books and never actually resolve. Jumping ship now.

      The third novel of The World of the Nightwalker series is an intriguing and entertaining paranormal romance with refreshingly unique elements.Mercenary, Leo Alvarez is forced to grapple with the realm of supernatural beings far more dangerous than anything he’s ever encountered when his best friend becomes host to the soul of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Now, to save his friend from utter destruction, he must team up with another supernatural creature – a Night Angel. The two must unite their strengths to bring down a supreme evil and form an unusual alliance one that is electrified by sexual temptation. This steady to fast paced plot is full of action, suspense, and romance, The author brings this entertaining story to life with vivid images and intense details that it make the reader feel like they are part of the story. The strong enchanting characters have strong charismatic personalities that grab the reader’s attention and are easily related to.The romance between Leo and Faith explodes from every scene and radiates enough heat to keep scorch the reader. The author conveys the passion and the emotions with an intensity that invokes the reader’s emotions right along with the story.The author introduces new characters and supernatural species into her stories that always brings unique elements to each one and this story is no different. Each paranormal story is has its own refreshing story line and wonderful characters while remaining connected to the other series as well and this one is no different.Jacquelyn Frank is a masterful storyteller that is able to bring unique and fascinating worlds to life that keep the readers mesmerized and thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. I love all of her books, including the ones written as Jax, and this one is no exception. I was caught up in the book from the very beginning and had to keep turning the pages until I had read the very last word.

      Frankly, I didn't like this book and will most likely not read any of the other World of Nightwalkers books. It starts out as a fantasy - "As a mercenary, Leo Alvarez has signed on for a lot -- but he never signed on for his best friend becoming host to the soul of an ancient Egyptian pharoah" - and rapidly devolves into a romance with all the obligatory verbage. I was extremely disappointed.

      Forsaken (The World of Nightwalkers #3) by Jacquelyn Frank3 ½ of 5 starsLeo Alvarez is having trouble coping with the fact that his best friend, Jackson, has become a host to a Bodywalker. He thrust into the supernatural world not trusting any of them. Jackson is attacked by a demon god leaving him on the brink of death. With the help of the Night Angel, Faith, Leo sets out on a quest to save Jackson’s life. Forsaken is a fast-paced story with an interesting plot. The characters are fascinating and well developed. Jacquelyn Frank does an excellent job expressing the characters' emotions and thoughts. I really enjoyed Leo and Faith’s relationship. Through knowing Faith, Leo begins to mentally heal from his torture by the Templar in the previous book; thus, trusting his best friend again.Forsaken is a great book for lovers of paranormal and fantasy. I’m interested in seeing what else will happen in The World of Nightwalkers.ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

      I liked this book fairly well. I was glad there was not too much about Egypt in it (like the first one in this grouping). The romance was fine and this book focused almost exclusively on the 2 characters and their romance. I am thinking maybe that is why I didn't like this as well as the first set of books in the nightwalkers series. In that group the relationships with the other main characters seemed to be more real. In this one the other characters are there, but just as a background to create the task that the main couple needs to do. Leo's relationships with them don't seem real in this book.

      I'm a big fan of the World of the Nightwalkers series, and this is another great installation. Leo is a human, a mercenary who had a very violent introduction to the various supernaturals living amongst the "normal" people. He was captured and tortured, saved only as a bargaining chip for an evil man who wanted to switch sides. Leo also found out his best friend and his friend's sister are both Bodywalkers, sharing their bodies with the souls of ancient Egyptians working to keep the world safe from their evil counterparts. When Leo's friend Jackson is seriously injured Leo must pair up with another type of supernatural, a dark angel named Faith, to save Jackson. Leo must get past his biases to both work with Faith and to decide to save the current version of his friend. As hard as he tries, Leo has a very difficult time trusting any non-human. He wants to take care of Jackson out of a sense of obligation to their shared history then leave forever. Faith is ever patient, regardless of how poorly Jackson treats her, knowing he is battling serious demons of his own. Even her kindness, however, doesn't seem able to penetrate the deep hatred Leo harbors. Leo's journey is an interesting one. He struggles, and takes a lot of mis-steps. He's cruel to the people who love him and pushes away anyone who could come to care. Somehow, though, instinct takes over when his friends are in trouble and he risks his life to save them. Frank definitely seems to be setting things up to join her various series in an epic battle. I hope that comes to pass. It's always great revisiting old friends from series past. This book is recommended but you definitely need to read the books in order to get the best effect.

      This was my least favorite of the series, so far, which sucks cause I really liked Leo from the first time we met him. He was such an enigma as a human living and working in the paranormal world. And after all the torture he endured in the last book I was so looking forward to his story to see how he reclaimed his life and sought revenge. I was looking forward to a kick-ass woman coming in and helping him heal and give him all kinds of crazy love. What I read was so far from all that. He was bitter and bigoted and sent on a mission that while important wasn't all that interesting. Maybe it was the fact that I couldn't find it in me to like the new Nightwalker species, Night Angels. I could never figure out a good enough picture in my head of Faith. I just felt nothing for her. Then there was the whole WTF moment in the middle where it jumps ahead a year and a half so that when we come back to present time there is a connection between Leo and Faith so the hatred and loathing from Leo can be erased and they'll be on equal footing. I didn't like that part at all. First, I didn't like seeing Marissa as some woman full of rage because Leo and Faith weren't able to complete a mission. Secondly, I just didn't like Leo and Faith together. I don't see a man so traumatized by this world end up in a loving relationship with someone who looks so different. Maybe it's just me, but I just didn't feel these two together.I loved all the books in the Nightwalker series and even really liked the first two books in this series,, but the creatures are getting just a little out there. Night Angels, farting blue horses I just can't do. Not sure I'll even read the next one since I guess it'll revolve around more Night Angels. I was totally getting into the Bodywalkers and the Egyptian mythology.Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

      This is completely written in the world of Adult Fantasy. I was doubtful when looking over the blurb, but once decided to treat it as a work not based in reality I started to enjoy it. The hero is three dimensional with plenty of faults as not to be a male Mary Sue. The female rocks your world on what you always pictured angels to be. The ancient Egyptian undertones will drag a history buff into the story line. I am not one to like hard core fantasy but this is reality based enough to keep you grounded. Plenty of surprises enough to allow it to be an interesting read. I realize that other characters starred in previous books but those characters need to continue to be interesting instead of flat. If you like to place yourself in the main character's shoes it may present a problem.

      Forsaken is the first book that I have read by Frank, and I really enjoyed it. Since this book is the first one that I have read in this series, it took me a little bit to familiarize myself with Frank's world and characters, but Frank does a good job at catching up new readers by thrusting them right into the middle of the action. Leo is recovering from a brutal assault and is distrustful of his friends, but when his friend, Jackson, is injured he doesn't think twice about stepping in to help. Faith goes with Leo on his mission to help his friend, and both characters learn that despite their differences they make a good team. I liked how Frank didn't shy away from showing Jackson dealing with the fallout of his attack, and I liked how she tied his budding relationship with Faith with his healing. Frank does an amazing job with the development of her two main characters, and she also introduces some great secondary characters that capture the reader's attention and interest. Overall Forsaken was a great read that I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a great paranormal romance.       Forsaken continues on from Subhuman where the scattered team is once again drawn together with a confluence of events that have all been started by their tinkering in the pyramid back in Subhuman. This time not only do we see them returning to the Antarctic, but also delving into undiscovered ruins in Mexico.An excellent mix of archaeology, horror, action, adventure. I really enjoyed the first book and this one takes it even further making for a book that is rather hard to put down as you just want to find out where things are going. I'm rather bummed I have to wait awhile now for the next one to come out.
