About this audiobook

Former musician Juliet Langley has barely had a day off since taking over management of the coffeehouse owned by her best friend, Pete Bennett. But there's always more to be done-such as prepping for the annual Holiday 5K Race organized by Pete's snobby socialite girlfriend, Cecilia Hollingsworth. This year, Java Jive has a booth right at the finish line, and since Juliet and Cecilia don't always see eye to eye, everything has to be perfect. Nothing can go wrong. Nothing . . . like Juliet stumbling over Cecilia's dead body on the morning of the race.

When Pete is arrested for Cecilia's murder, Juliet sets out to clear his name. She'll do whatever it takes-even if it means standing up to the police and her ex-boyfriend. But there isn't enough espresso in the world for the greatest challenge in her path: infiltrating Nashville's high society to uncover the hidden hotbed of scandal without running afoul of the law herself. With her last dime staked on Pete's bail bond and her staff growing jittery, the last thing Juliet needs is for her trademark temper to land her behind bars. As time drips away, Juliet needs to crack this case before the killer comes back for another shot.

In our second visit to Java Jive, we see Juliet single as she and Ryder split up at the end of the first book. Pete is once again dating Cecilia, and she and Juliet still can not stand one another. Juliet is dating Stan, Cecelia's brother and the opening of the book has them all at a funeral and wake for Stan and Cecilia's grandmother. When Cecilia is found murdered in the tent that Java Jive is using to sell cookies at the 5K fundraiser, Pete is not only suspected of the murder, but is actually arrested. Juliet is beside herself that her best friend is in jail and will do everything in her power to find the real killer and get Pete released. She puts herself in danger when she begins poking around in things that are none of her business. The rich have money to hire excellent lawyers and if and when they get in trouble, they tend to get out of jail quickly, not so with Pete.

The characters we met in the first book are back in another great story. The humorous and witty dialogue, mixed with romantic tension, and a puzzling mystery make this a book that I quickly read. Juliet is a wonderful heroine, she reminds me a bit of Stephanie Plumb from the Janet Evanovich books. She is humorous, constantly justifying her actions to herself and others and so loyal and loving to her friends it is impossible not to root for her and like her. The mystery-suspense elements have an emotional twist this time with Gertie and Juliet worried about Pete, she does things without thinking because she can not live without him. There are so many suspects in this one with twists and turns that I had no idea who the murderer was until the very end.

I think cozy mystery readers will enjoy getting to know Juliet, also known as The Redheaded She-Devil or Scooby, and all her friends at the Java Jive. This series is well written and extremely entertaining.

Juliet Langley and her friends at (or near) at the Java Jive cafe, are once again caught up in a murder investigation all too close to home.

Pete is still dating Cecilia Hollingsworth, Nashville socialite, philanthropist, and businesswoman. Juliet is dating Cecilia's brother, Stan--although Juliet and Cecilia still loathe each other. When Juliet and former boyfriend, cop Ryder Hamilton, find Cecilia's dead body in the Java Jive tent on the morning of a charity 5K that Cecilia organized, it's shocking and unsettling.

But not nearly as shocking and unsettling as finding that the last person to see her alive was Pete--in the Java Jive tent the night before, and that she had just broken up with him, telling him she was pregnant and someone else was the father.

Pete had motive, means, and opportunity, so it's not long before he's sitting in jail.

Naturally, Juliet can't just let the police do their jobs. She's a smart woman, but her loyalty perhaps outweighs her common sense. These are light, entertaining mysteries, but some aspects of the plot, and of Juliet's decision-making, don't bear close examination. I will say, though, that the resolution is both logical and fair--the evidence is there for the reader, even if Juliet's ill-conceived private investigation distract from it.

Good for a light read when you want an undemanding, entertaining distraction.

I received a free electronic galley of this book from the publisher via NetGalley.

Java Jive coffeehouse manager Juliet Langely can't avoid getting mixed up with another murder. Her best friend and Java Jive owner, Pete Bennett, is accused of killing his girlfriend, Celicia Worthington, by stabbing her in the neck with a frothing wand. The police think Pete is guilty of the murder and arrest him, but Juliet knows Pete, and she knows Pete would never kill Celicia, no matter how big a pain Cecilia was. Juliet never had much use for Celicia in life, but she is determined to find her murderer, so Pete doesn't rot in jail. Suspects abound in this case, from Juliet's own lackluster boyfriend, Stan Worthington, to Cecilia's sister Abigail and her rather rough husband. Juliet quickly learns that Celicia was cheating on Pete as well. Doing her best to stay out of trouble and shake her over-protective ex-boyfriend, Ryder Hamilton, Juliet is determined to solve the case.I enjoyed reading this book. Juliet is a fun, fiery heroine! I like that she has a messy love life because life isn't always perfect and that she persists even when the going gets tough. I definitely plan to read the next book in this series.

Get it, read it, pass it on and at Christmas, what a wonderful gift to a book reading friend.

Juliet has her hands full running the Java Jive, her best friends Pete’s coffeehouse, she didn’t bargain going as a third wheel to his aristocratic girlfriend Cecilia Hollingsworth’s grandmothers repast. Who just happened to be one of the wealthiest women in Nashville. Her death only leaves Cecilia with more wealth and power. In this addition to the series the reader is introduced to Cecilia’s dysfunctional family, and boy is it dysfunctional. The repast does not go off without a few glitches which make for some laugh out loud moments. Poor Juliet just can't win with this family. Meanwhile, back to Java Jive, Juliet must get ready for Cecilia’s annual Holiday 5K Race, which they have a booth to get set up. Cecilia will be sure to be extra critical of it because she would love to see Juliet fail since they have such a contentious relationship. So Juliet is making every effort to make sure they have the best booth. Juliet is out at the fairgrounds to get put the finishing touches on their booth before sun up. When she arrives at the booth she raises the tent and stumbles over something, she's thinking, "Oh, No, what now" then she realises it's a body. When she sees who it is she shocked, to say the least, how could she be stumbling over Cecilia’s body in their booth of all places and who killed her? She falls out of the tent right into her ex-boyfriend, Detective Ryder’s arms who is there as a participant in the 5K. The day just gets worse, much worse. Pete is arrested and she knows there is no way he could have killed Cecilia. She cannot stand for him to be behind bars for something he didn’t do. She will do anything to get him out of jail until she can prove his innocence. It’s bad enough his girlfriend is dead, then it looks like the police are convinced of his guilt. Now the fun begins, when she enlists her only girlfriend, Savannah to help her find the real killer. The list of suspects keeps growing daily.I love this series; the characters are really growing on me. I love the subtle romantic undertones between Juliet and Pete, now that Cecilia is out of the picture I'm curious where this could be headed. However, I happened to feel the same why as Pete’s "feisty, tell it like she sees it" grandmother, Gertie when it comes to hunky Ryder. The surprise ending was just too much, A Whole Latte Murder will be coming out in early November of this year it looks like. I for one can’t wait. This is one series that you don’t have to start at the beginning to get into the flow of things, but it's well worth it if you do. I would like to thank NetGalley and Alibi Publishing for providing me with an e-galley for my honest review.

This is the second book in the Java Jive series and it was as much fun as the first book. Great characters and a fun mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. Is just how I like a cozy mystery. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
