About this audiobook

HIS TREASURE AND HIS OBSESSION . . .

Despite her longing for the sea, Macy has clung to the safety of land for half her life, devoting herself to her daily routine-until she agrees to go sailing with a childhood friend. Her fears come to fruition when a sudden storm capsizes their boat, rekindling her old terror. She awakens to a rescuer who is anything but human-and he refuses to let her go. Treated like a curiosity and a possession, she's desperate to go home. Yet Macy is undeniably drawn to this strange creature. Can she give up her old life, her family and friends, to embrace this adventure . . . and Jax?

HER SAVIOR AND HER CAPTOR . . .

Jax the Wanderer is a hunter, an explorer, and an oddity among his kind. While other kraken are content near their dens, Jax is driven by a deep need to journey far and wide, discovering the unknown corners of the sea. Macy challenges everything he's known; she is the most alluring creature he's ever seen on his travels. He must possess her, though he knows it can only end in disaster. How much is he willing to forsake for the female he desires?

I didn't actually know what to expect, but this blew away any expectations I could have possibly had. I really struggle with books keeping my interest, but this was the perfect balance of gripping adventures, and passionate romance. I binged the whole thing in less than a day. The erotic scenes leave nothing for wanting. I don't often pursue series for long, but I can't wait to start the next one immediately.

This was a solid 3.5 in my book, and by my rating scale that doesn't mean it was BAD, at all.

    Pros:

    * this was "sci-fi lite", while still presenting adequate and interesting world building.

    * this was my first foray into tentacle porn, and I have to say, I was into it.

    *Overall it was good writing

    Cons:

*I found that some events zipped along too quickly, whole others seemed unnecessarily drawn out.

*I never felt like I got a good picture of Jax's anatomy and locomotion in general, or how (other than Stolkholde Syndrome) Macie went from not even knowing these creatures existed, to falling in love with him and desiring him physically, in such a short period of time.

*His sharp teeth were a turn off, and I couldn't stop thinking that he must have fish breath.

*Several of the characters in this story delivered whiplash with their changes of heart, as it suited the storyline.

*I wasn't ever able to completely buy the ROMANCE (love) between the characters, but honestly, I think that might have been due more to the detached and robotic voice that the female narrator gave Jax. The male narrator did much better, but wasn't featured as often.

*It just seemed way too easy for Macie to make the decision that she wanted to stay with Jax/go back and live in his world, especially when like only one or two other individuals there were being nice to her. There just didn't seem to be much about their existence that would appeal to her.

---So, it appears that I can think of more little problems with the book than I can big positives, HOWEVER, I found it interesting/titallating, I'm glad I read it, and while it won't be a book I return to, I will read more from this author.
