About this audiobook

An Irish Country Family is a charming entry in Patrick Taylor's beloved internationally bestselling Irish Country series.

Before Doctor Barry Laverty joined Doctor Fingal O’Reilly's practice in the colorful Irish village of Ballybucklebo, he was an intern, working long hours, practicing new medical techniques, falling in love, and learning what is most important in the medical field for a family physician—the bonds of family, friendships, and human kindness.

Years later, Barry practices everything he has learned in Ballybucklebo, a lovely village where neighbor looks after neighbor. And while his own efforts to start a family with his wife Sue have been frustrated, the community around him couldn’t be stronger as they work together to show their solidarity.

Shifting effortlessly between the two time periods, bestselling author Patrick Taylor continues the story of these beloved characters while vividly bringing the daily joys and struggles of this delightful Irish village to life.

Praise for narrator John Keating:

"Keating is masterful in his interpretations of the extensive cast of Irish characters...One can easily visualize the verdant green hills and fresh sea air, making a visit with Keating in the driver's seat a jovial trip back in time." —AudioFile Magazine on An Irish Country Practice

"The charm of Taylor's Irish Country tales is brought to life in John Keating's performance. His Irish lilt will transport listeners straight to Ballybucklebo...Keating's pacing and inflections are perfect as he gives a unique vocal personality to each character." —AudioFile Magazine on An Irish Country Love Story

"John Keating's wonderful sing-song Irish brogue breathes life and seasonal warmth into this cast of reprobates from the little village of Balleybucklebo...There is enough charm and seasonal warmth in this package to repliate the spirit of the holidays." —Publishers Weekly on An Irish Country Christmas

This lovely Irish account of a community of good souls, draws us into fondness of its characters and their determination to create a venue in which Catholic and Protestant citizens can gather together for shared events and celebrations of their shared lives. This is the stuff of generous lives well lived. I’ll be reading more of this series.

The entire series was most enjoyable and the characters became so dear to my heart. Patrick Taylor wove stories so well it has you wishing they all were true. Anyone fortunate enough to read the whole series, will wish Ballybucklebo and all its inhabitants were real. Being an Irish/English Newfoundlander, I loved all the expressions and characters and felt my province’s strong ties to the mother lands.
