About this audiobook

Becca McKenzie is happy-crazy, ridiculously happy.

She might not have figured out what she wants to do with her life, but she has something better-Ryan Jackson-and they couldn't be more in love if they tried. He might have been pissed when she went off to a different college, but they make the long distance work because they're "Becca and Ryan," and nothing is going to break them.

Until it does.

Until one terrible, unforgettable night away from Ryan. Until too much drinking and one empty bedroom. Until fifteen minutes of hell completely destroys her life and leaves Becca questioning everything she's ever known. Until that night turns into a lie she can't stop-can't control.

Until she said no but he didn't listen.

Contains mature themes.

After reading the first book, I had to read this one right away. The ending was so abrupt I wanted to see Ryan and Becca together more. I didn't even read the synopsis or read any reviews so I was shocked to hear what this book really entailed. SPOILERS AHEAD*** WARNING**** the rape scene was so frustrating and heartbreaking to read. I have read other books with rape as a focus, but this one was the most heartbreaking for me because of the events afterwards. I was mad that Ryan automatically assumed the worst, and I hated that everyone sided with him. The reason why this book was so thought provoking was due to the fact that Becca only told one person the true events of what happened. It hurt to see everyone treat her that way and made me think that cancel culture is truly a disease. I wanted Becca to open up it frustrated me, but then I felt bad for thinking this way, when rape is a serious trauma. It's unimaginable to think someone you know to have to go through this. This is why having Sam's point of view was so important. The ending broke my heart as she told her parents I got soo emotional. Hearing Ryan's response made me feel for him. I was devastated when realizing that Becca and Ryan could never be together, because this trauma is all consuming. When she said it, I felt even worse knowing that the book would end this way. The epilogue satisfied my wants but for the person who feels Ryan doesn't deserve a happy ending, it is in a form of an epilogue. Congratulations to the author on making such a phenomenal, thought provoking novel.

Very good book. However some moments were just unbelievable. The fact that Becca blamed herself for what happened to her even after getting better, is a little sad for me. Forgiving someone is one thing, but she straight went back to him. A relationship is mainly built on trust whether you love them or not, if there is no trust, then how can you go on. I didn't see any trust from Ryan. He treated her like crap and she went back to him so easily.

TW: There are some assault scenes so beware.

This is a re-read in a way, in that I read the book last year and I am doing so again in audio this time. Re-read in this case is loosely used because honestly, I just did a few chapters at the start and the last few chapters at the end because I cannot bring myself to hear the very dark, enraging, devastating middle chapters. TRIGGER WARNING: this book has assault/rape scenes.

I've never forgotten this book for its heroine and what she went through and for the steel in her spine, as well as her vulnerability. I've never forgotten the hero too, for the kind of disgusting, immature, seemingly unredeemable human he was to his avowed love of his life. He did grovel for 2 seconds (totally unsatisfying) and heroine just forgave him! (Totally freaking unrealistic.)

I wish there wasn't a rushed ending, could have done with more chapters of happiness to balance out the darkness in this.

I'd say this one had a happy-for-now ending.

The beginning was horrible. I wasn’t a fan of the female narrator. As I continued it was okay, I skipped a lot because it got monotonous at some point. I really liked the last few chapters.
