About this audiobook

I knew I'd ruffle feathers, but the day I walked into Rockport High, I had no idea the cheap shots that were to follow.

You see, the Ballers and I have a history. They play basketball. I play basketball. But they hate that I play basketball as good as them. And the only thing they hate more than that, is me.

That's right. I'm a girl, and I. Can. Play. Make no mistake about it.

The Ballers can do their worst, but I will earn a spot on the RHS boys' team. This is my last resort to make a name for myself, and I can't let them interfere-even if the so-called kings of the school have declared war against me.

Contains mature themes.

I'm not into sports at all but the story was great! Tessa is so strong and determined. Can't wait to see how the rest of the series goes. I hope there'll be plenty of grovelling.

This was my first audiobook from EM Moore and I couldn’t help but get sucked into the world of the Ballers! I devoured this series over the past weekend, I couldn’t stop listening and was happy I didnt get cut off for the month before book 3 haha. I highly recommend this series and am kicking myself for waiting so long to start it. I hope more of EM’s books come on audio, I will listen and review in a heartbeat ❤️

In terms of the story, we get to see how Tessa (a strong, up and coming basketball star) handle trying out for the boy’s team and dealing with a ton of bullying from the guys she has always competed against and maaaay have had a crush on. I wouldnt say this is the worst bullying I have read/listened to but there were definitely some tough moments in book 1 that made me uncomfortable. I did appreciate a lot of the bullying was from a particular individual for the majority of it. Don’t get me wrong, all the guys either bully Tessa or allow things to happen to her, so they are all in the wrong in my boat. I was already rooting for this harem in the very beginning as Alec came around. I was worried he was doing it on a bet or something, but happy the plot didnt go there. I think he and Sloan were an interesting combo out of the 4 to allow things to happen first. I did love the napping/taking care of Sloan, that was very adorable and endearing. The ending was really tough to listen to, I was so pissed on Tessa’s behalf, but thank goodness book 2 was available so I could right into it. I did appreciate Tessa showing her insecurities and not being so hard all the time. The stuff with her parents was very relatable, I appreciated that aspect. I am a huge basketball fan so I appreciated throughout this series the actual sports romance (not just a book saying a guy played football or something and its “sports romance”). More to come on that in the next book’s review haha. I think the side characters in this trilogy sometimes stole the show and I was here for it! Loved every second, gonna have to get these in paperback they were so good!

So I think the main reason I never listened to this series was because the narrator at 1.0 speed was killing me. I couldn’t sit there and digest it, it was very slow and the way Elizabeth Russell did it irked me/bored me to tears. Since I have been listening to audiobooks for awhile now, I have upped the listening speed based on the narrators and once I changed this to 1.5 times (rate), I loved the narration. I give this as a PSA because I would have never picked this series up otherwise, that the adjustable speed is your friend! I felt the heartache and frustration/anger from the performance especially with the bullying and the messed-up situation at the end. I thought she did a good job with the guy voices too, giving them enough of a difference so you knew who was talking most of the time.

5/5 stars, definitely recommend, one of my favorite series I have listened to in 2021 ?

Anytime I'm looking for a good straight up relaxing read, I like to fall back on a romance. And this was one of the best romances I've read in a while. There is a good story here with actual character development. This story isn't all about sex. There were a couple of times in the first half of the book when I knew that normal romances would have fallen into a sex scene yet this one didn't. Don't get me wrong, the sex did come, it was just later on. I really enjoyed this romance and definitely intend on picking up the other books in the series.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales.Quick & Dirty: Tabloids give us only a version of the truth. What happens when you get two infamous people together? Will love blossom or wither?Opening Sentence: “Well, I’ll be doggone!”The Review:Let me preface this entire book review with “Purchase this book ASAP!” Tracy Solheim’s book resounds with sharp, witty dialogue and a plot that has many unexpected twists and turns while remaining so grounded that I got lost in the story. Not many books can begin with “Well, I’ll be doggone!” and sound genuine but the author pulls this off with style and grace. The scope of accents, languages and locations was breath taking. This book navigates Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Baltimore, glimpses of Italy and Allegheny Mountains with such heartfelt emotions I believed I was there with the characters experiencing everything just as if I was there too. This is a gift that very few authors can achieve especially in a first book.Shane Devlin aka Devil of the NFL is between Quarterback jobs in part because of his reputation and has gone to Mexico for a little R&R and to allow his agent to negotiate a new contract for him. Shane’s personality jumps off the page. We are gifted with a real look at his feelings, his motivations and even his anger at a father that left him to care for his dying mother when he was still a child himself. While he has been trying to lay low he had been fascinated by a woman that appears to be a wedding designer’s assistant. How could anyone not notice this amazing woman especially when her ring tone chimed the theme to The Wizard of Oz. He had even attempted to buy her a drink but “Dorothy” didn’t seem to find him at all worthy of the effort. However “Dorothy” aka Carly March is anything but a wedding designer’s assistant. In fact she is the assistant to the General Manager of the Baltimore Blaze, the team considering signing Shane. Her job had been to help management decide whether he had earned his nickname or if he was capable of good behavior. Carly is anything but impervious to Shane’s charisma but has been hurt by a professional athlete in Italy and has promised to stick to boring men like podiatrists and accountants. Shane is neither of those.Once they return from Mexico, they attempt to keep their relationship professional but it all goes sideways when Carly is threatened by a journalist with an unhealthy obsession with Carly. This addition to the storyline was part of the reason that I was up until nearly midnight finishing this book. The other reason for my late night was the addition of Troy, Shane’s half brother, that ends up in Shane’s care because his parents die in a plane crash. The emotions that are conveyed as Shane deals not just with the death of his father, whom he has despised for years, but having to come to terms with the importance of family and relationships is a huge reason you need to purchase this book on launch. One of my favorite things that Troy says is in this paragraph: “Don’t forget to feed the dog.” Troy yelled from the open passenger window. When he turned to face forward again, tears were streaming down his face. “Butthead.” It doesn’t get much more honest than that.I have one itsy bitsy quibble about the last sequence of the book and I’m not going to spoil it, but it seemed a bit trite to have that happen there but you be the judge when you read the book. Let me know if you think I’m wrong. As I began this review, this is a must buy but be prepared to be away for a number of hours, never getting up from your chair or hammock. This is a prime candidate for a TV movie.Notable Scene:“You jocks are all alike.” She fingered the chain around her neck. Shane took a slow break. The gesture was more erotic than her licking the ice of her glass. “You think any woman will be flattered by your attentions.”“You could flatter me with a little of yours.”His lines were bordering on pathetic, but at least she didn’t break out in hysterics. He thought he saw the beginnings of a real smile, but before she could say anything, the fashion designer and photographer returned to the table. The designer’s eyes went wide as she noticed him sitting there. The phtographer recognized Shane immediately.“Hey, you two do know each…” Before he could finish his sentence, Dorothy grabbed Shane’s arm, yanking him up from the table.“Let’s dance.” Her warm fingers manacled his wrist as she dragged him to the other side of the bar.FTC Advisory: Berkley/Penguin provided me with a copy of Game On. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.
