About this audiobook
"[O]ne of the most inspired and inspiring manifestos of our art that I know." -- Richard Monette, Stratford artistic director
Constantin Stanislavski (1863-1938), arguably the most influential director in the history of the theater, was the founder of the renowned Moscow Art Theater. A pioneer of psychological realism and improvisation on the stage, he devoted his life to developing the performance techniques now emulated throughout the world.
In this first-ever audio edition of his classic work, Stanislavski's simple exercises fire the imagination, and help listeners not only discover their own conception of reality but how to reproduce it as well. An Actor Prepares is brilliantly narrated by Mike Fraser.

Reviews for An Actor Prepares

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm grateful to have this essential actor's tool as an audiobook. I can listen to it anytime I'm on a walk, exercising, in the car, doing chores, or just sitting and listening. There's a lot of content in each chapter so I like rewinding sections that I find inspirational, informative, or confusing at first. Certain inflections during conversations between Constantin and the director throw me for a loop so I rewind to grasp the context. Overall, it's a wonderful audiobook for an aspiring actor to keep in their toolbox!
