About this audiobook

When seventeen-year-old Maddy Pruitt vanishes from her sleepy town, word on the street is that she ran away. The daughter of an abusive alcoholic with a quick temper, she had every reason to leave in search of something better, and everyone who knew Maddy knew the type of company she kept wasn't always ideal.

But when a second seventeen-year-old girl from a local, affluent family turns up missing shortly after Maddy's disappearance, the circumstances become suspicious. Even though the girls are perfect strangers from opposite sides of town, attended separate schools, and traveled in different social circles, it turns out they have more in common than anyone could have imagined.

With the clock ticking, those closest to the girls lead a frantic search, uncovering secrets, lies, and a web of deceit that might have the girls paying an ultimate price . . . if they don't find them in time.

Marin Montgomery

Marin Montgomery grew up in the Midwest but traded cornfields for the desert, and she now calls Arizona home. Originally slated to go to fashion school on the West Coast, Montgomery has always been passionate about writing short stories and poems. After finishing her MBA, she decided to write her first novel at the encouragement of her childhood best friend. When she’s not thinking up her next psychological twist, she can be found playing a mean game of Scrabble, binge-watching a variety of television shows, and hanging with her goldendoodle, Dashiell.

The plot was completely unbelievable and the connections between the characters were weak and unlikely. I listened to the whole book because I had liked The Ruined Wife and hoped it would all make sense at the end but too many loose threads meant it couldn’t be redeemed.

Possibly the most unrealistic book I have ever read. It started off well but ended up very disappointing.

Book started off really well. Disappointed with the ending. Too many lose ends and a cramped up unrealistic ending

This book was awful. The reactions to situations in the book were so unbelievable. None of the characters were particularly likeable. And the female portraying the young girls in the audiobook had this like California accent that sounded like a parody from SNL. It was pretty grating. Ending was also non sensical.

A moderately enjoyable story with implausible twists and turns. Not realistic in any way. Unanswered questions.
